Just had my local dealer call for a recall item: "oil pipe."

No more detail than that - anyone had this already, or knows any more info?

Had it done a few weeks ago - seems its just checking of pipes and clips. Mines was ok.

The braded pipes that run to the oil cooler, which is in front of all the other coolers, can sometimes chaff leading to (possible) long-term failure. Dealers usually put a plastic ‘hose-holder’ between the pipes to prevent this.

Whilst they’re in the area the tech will also check for leaks from the cooler/hose unions and if found will probably replace hoses & cooler, as the hoses don’t come away easily. It’s a front-off job.

It's not a bad idea to then coat the unions with engine wax to prevent future corrosion before putting the front back on.

I've said this before and I'll say it again - items like this are NOT a recall (which is coordinated by VOSA and is for safety items ONLY), it is a Service Campaign and is OPTIONAL but advisory.

I've just had all the outstanding Service Campaign work done on my RS4 (paid for by the extended warranty), as well as a DRC replacement due to leaking front shock absorbers.

[quote="PetrolDave"]IYes, but the dealer refers to it as a "recall item," so that's how I call it.

Dave,

what other SC work did you have done (if you don't mind me asking).

DRC on extended warranty, or Audi goodwill?

1) Oil pipe corrosion
2) fuel pressure sensor
3) spare wheel well cracking

Plus SW update to 0090, and DRC replacement.

All paid for by Audi UK despite my car being 3 years 11 months old.
