Steve Sutcliffe "Between 70mph and a fair bit more. the RS5 is as quick as a

458. And it's got four seats and a boot"

He loves it

Also in next week's edition a (£35k) car comparison between a four year old RS4

and a new Mitsubishi Evo FQ-360.

Your right - quite a good initial review.

Probably more of a Grand Tourer than 'out & out' Sports Coupe'...

Still alot of money tho'. But maybe not, when you compare to other GT's.

Certainly doesn't sound like a potential replacement for my RS4 then being more GT like. Chris Harris at Evo was disappointed with the RS5 and said it's nothing like as characterful as the last RS4. He also said: So you’re left with a car whose chassis wants you to relax, but whose engine and gearbox must be worked very hard to produce the performance you’d expect. Like I said, confusing

Car magazine said similar stuff about it being more GT than RS

Disappointing as I was eagerly awaiting this car. Maybe the RS4 is the best roadcar they will ever make!

The Autocar video review is very good. Steve Sutcliffe is a well respected car journo and he is really raving about it.

just got this months evo through the post have to say i am more than happy i bought a second hand RS4 than waited for and paid a lot of money for a new rs5

not really sure what you are getting over and above with the rs5 that an S5 doesnt already give you

it is a good looking car, much better in person than in print I imagine, if it's anything like an s5

it's a GT, not a sports car, and the power should be sufficient
but it's not in the same league as a GT-R or 911 Turbo

for reference an S6 goes for $80k+ in the States (RS5 should be more if sold here)...there is a lot of competition in that range:
997S4 ~85k
M3 coupe fully loaded at 70k
GT-R 80k
to name a few

thing is how can an RS be a gt surely the whole point of an RS is opposit to that, part of my coming to an RS was in selling my Exige and whilst it is a lot more comfy and a bit less extreme it is no GT :D

Steve's not prepared however to say whether it is worth trading in our RS4's for. Shame, would be nice to know what the journo's think who have driven both.

Steve Sutcliffe said "Between 70mph and a fair bit more. the RS5 is as quick as a 458............lol.... no way, that's all I can say - the new Ferrari 458 is nearly as fast as an Enzo.......so the new RS5 has the same performance as an Enzo. If thats the case my C63 will be going!!

All journos even respected ones like Steve need to make their piece interesting. Hence these over enthusiastic sound bites. Otherwise you might not read it. Don't get sucked into the hype.

here's the video link

http://www.autocar.co.uk/VideosWallpape ... 49049&CT=V

he says it weighs 1750kg, thats 100kg more than the RS4! Fat Ba$tard!

Once again Audi seems to have managed to make a very fast capable car that's not as much fun to drive as it should be. As the Autocar vid says, it could have been a world beater but, ultimately it falls short. Why don't Audi/Quattro gmbh get it?

I'll be surprised if the next RS4 is as well received as the B7 one was. More tech does not = more driving pleasure.

In the B7 RS4 I think we may have a classic.

I think you are right. We'll just have to hang on to our cars longer as there is nothing on the market that you can move to that's as good!

The review in Evo this month wouldn't encourage me to rush out and order one. I wonder how much down on power it is :D
