I remember someone on here saying that Asda had an offer on this oil so I went there, and to my joy it's only £8.50 for 1L or £32 for 5Ltrs!
Thanks for the tip

The Quantum stuff is a special deal between Castrol and Volkswagen Group UK. Unfortunately, whilst the Quantum stuff is VW approved, it isn't 'Volkswagen Germany' approved for franchised workshop use. Official franchised workshops should ONLY use oil from a 'premium' brand (which would include Castrol, BP, Fuchs, Motul, Elf, Total, and also Mobil). Quantum oils are only meant for the 'Independent Motor Trade'!RS04OUR wrote:Well, you live and learn - Audi tried to sell the VAG own Quantum stuff, which is best of those two IYHO please?
Yes, Quantum is blended at the same 'UK Lubricants plc' plant in Belgium, which is where Castrol stuff is also blended. However, Quantum lubes are categorically NOT the same as Castrol lubes. Quantum are slightly inferior to the genuine equivalent Castrol brews (either the 'consumer' Castrol EDGE, or the 'professional workshop' Castrol SLX Professional Powerflow).P_G wrote:Quantum is quoted as being blended in the same place as Castrol for VAG using the same techniques. So theoretically the same.
Not entirely true as my local franchised dealer uses Quantum in its workshops; so says the big 50L drums they have round the back of the workshop and the techs in it.Teutonic_Tamer wrote:The Quantum stuff is a special deal between Castrol and Volkswagen Group UK.
