engine oil offer at halfords

Post by kay » Mon Mar 08, 2010 1:01 am

Mobil 1 ESP (emissions system protection) 5/30 fully synthetic VW 504/507 spec. 5lt . now 39.99 down from 49.99.

Is this a pretty good oil for our cars and is it a good price compared to other suppliers?

I needed to top up and was gonna buy the 1lt for £16 but bought the 5lt as it was just over twice the price for 5 x the quantity. Now im thinking to get more whilst on offer,to use when my next service is due.

If it has the VW spec that our engines need - can't remember the number - then that's a fair price.

Always worth checking out Opie Oils though - and using the RS246 discount.

I ordered 12 x 1L Titan GT1 from Opie last week - its on offer and was considerably cheaper than buying the bigger bottles. And the usual top service from them too.
Everyone is unique, just like you and me.

That'll be like this offer then;

:wink:

BTW opie were cheaper when they were doing up to 35% off Castrol Edge but regular prices are a good bit more expensive. And the Mobil 1 is the ESP version we need.

just read P_G's other thread from 10th feb about the offer at halfords lol. Hmm, i wonder if opie are still doing the offer on mobil 1...didnt know it came in 4lts as well as the 5lt unless if the 4lt one opie do is not ESP. Yes the vw 504/507 spec is the spec our manuals recommend. I wonder if the ESP variety of mobil 1 is a new one??

Thanks for that mark758. Going back to what P_G said in an earlier post, the oil used in variable service is same as the one used in fixed service...is that so? I might switch to fixed yearly servicing as i only do 5k/yr, in which case i dont want to buy the mobil 1 esp if i cant use it in fixed servicing.
