Looking for a bit of advice, my EPC light came on yesterday so I stopped the car to consult the handbook, when I started up again the warning light was out and has stayed that way ever since. Is it likely to be a blip, rectified itself somehow, or will it be back?

Search my posts, this has been an ongoing problem for me. So far unexplained, but a total pain.

Will, I take it you've had the management system checked and no fault found? The car was running a bit lumpier than usual from cold yesterday, but I put it down to the weather, now I'm not so sure.

there should be a code stored even thoug hthe light it out....something must have gone out of normal parameters, just need to find out what and then if its worth investigating further / worrying about

A scan with vagcom should show the stored error code.

My EPC light has been coming on & then going out 5 mins. later for the past 3 weeks now. The car is running fine, the only problem is when the light is on you can't go above 7000rpm.

It's going in on Friday to get the brakes discs changed & I'm going to have it checked with Vagcom, so I'll left you know the results; hopefully something innocuous.
Speaking of brake discs, the replacement discs that I bought have come fully galvanised. This is the first time that I've seen this & was curious to know what happens to the zinc coating when the brakes get up to temp?

Would it have a detrimental effect on the pads???

don't think it a galvanised coating.

The ATE discs i normally buy for our VW/Audi's have a special paint on them, if you read the instructions that come with them, you basically fit and then the first time you use the brakes, the coating will be removed from the pad contact area.

EPC - our A2 has this come on occasionally, turns out the throttle body gets dirtied by the oil breather, a quick squirt with throttle body cleaner sorts it out - for 6 months anyway! dunno if same on RS

I had the EPC light, the traction control light and the engine light (emissions?) come on as well as losing the flybywire throttle. All these in no particular order or for any good reason....

I had 8 fault codes on the ecus, all relating to emissions on some level. Working now, fingers crossed, but not solved...

How did you reslove this issue, did you take your car back to the Phirm? sorry for thread rape.

Bizarrely enough the Phirm had it for a week and drove it to and from work, hot cold, fast, slow etc. and did get it to go wrong, ie the throttle to cut out. But the reason remained unclear. When going over the car, they added some oil, as it was a bit low, and from then on, it wouldn't go wrong.

My car is drinking oil at a rapid rate and the EPC light came on the other day and the throttle cut out. Oil was low, topped it up and it's working again fine now!!

Hmmm seems really strange, where the hell is the oil going?? dare you take the head off.

Cant understand why the ECP light would be effected, did you take it into Audi, no doubt they would have something to say about the Re-map

Haven't taken it to Audi as my local one is useless, plus the remap, induction, exhaust combo would probably be cited as the fault, despite the fact it probably isnt!

Had similar problem, took the garage a while to find out what it was - cam shafts moving around (apparently), bits of metal scored the bore. I go a new engine under warranty (only 27k on first engine). Not bad on Audi's part considering the engine light had gone off again and the warranty was abut to run out - apparently Germany insisted that it had to be sorted
