Confused.......

Post by yass » Tue Sep 01, 2009 1:29 am

Hi all.

i purchased my beast 4 months ago. Never had my own car before and always driving my Transit van i decided upon the RS4 B7.
Having bought the car i was detrmined to show most, if not all my mates(about 5 or 6). 2 out of the 4 commented it was a car for the middleaged man, not a 26 year old BOY! ehhh
i stumbled across some more of my so called mates and in not so many words i got the same from them.

so tell me somthing, being 26, self employed, Heating Engineer have i made the right choice? (obviously YES)

Also, what sort of age numbers do you hold?

I must say it is a 1 FAT ride!

Yass

Lol,
Completely jealous. They're probably more into Scooby's and stuff.

If you don't want it please let me know and I'll take it off your hands ;-)

im 33 and have had the car nearly 2 years, sounds like jealousy to me too, my biggest problem with my car is 80% of blokes stare at it when I drive by.... you reckon they are thinking hes abit young for that car? The downside is ladies tend to look at it too, which is causing some issues with my girlfriend :P

i'm 36 and feel a bit old in it to be honest...

love it though, and a quick drive in it soon sorts out any doubts i have about ownership....

What do they suggest you drive instead? That would be the interesting comment for me.

If it is Scooby, EVO, or god forbid M3 then they need the taste police set on them.

If you don't want to shout about what you drive and love the sound of a V8 the RS4 is the ideal car.

29 and just got mine. I've got an Astra VXR (boys car) aswell which is also a lot of fun but the Audi is a different league. There's a massive difference in the reaction you get between the two. People look at the Astra and look at you like you're a boy. In the Audi it's more of a genuine admiration for the car. Men appreciate the car, boys look in awe at the RS4! Your mates either 1. Don't have a clue what they're looking at, or 2. Are just jealous.

I'd be interested to know what they would suggest you drive at 26 if you want 420bhp, superb ride, all the toys possible and brilliant build quality. Because there's one thing for certain, you don't get that with a Scooby or a VTR or an RS or VXR. Come on - it's not even a comparison worth making is it?

39 with a family, but one press of that little 'S' button and I'm a carefree 17-year-old again.

44 and the guys at work think I’m mad but I use to race bikes so they just think I've never given up the 'need for speed'. Fact is (and its been said before) what can you drive with the performance that's so understated?

Trouble we all have, and there's a thread here somewhere, what do we get after this? Audi have ready-made sales group here so they need put something out to capture our collective imagination. I’m looking forward to the new RS4 and no doubt I’ll be a few years older and not at all embarrassed about being the wrong side of 40 something!

I actually thought I was a bit young at 36, but this has brought it all back in to perspective. I have always had fast cars, this time I wanted a fast but subtle car that would not attract attention, had the choice of a brand new scoob, evo or used 911. Settled on the RS4 as it ticked so many boxes - what next - I dont know, I just hope I can afford it and talk the Mrs's round, but currently can not think of anything that I would have as an alternative. Most freinds comment, superb speed, handling but with comfort - after rattaling my teeth on an Sti scoob for 11 very fun filled months, it was a welcome break to get even more performace but with a better degree of control, without the spoilers and everyone gawping. The only people who look now are the ones who really know what you are driving.

I have just turned 32 and couldnt give a rats a55 what anyone thinks about my ride..

My sisters chap is in complete awe (1 yr older than me), my mates tend to like cars that look nice but dont neccessarily have any go...!!! (they have no idea basically) and drive blue oval derv rep mobiles..yawn......

I adore my RS and honestly dont care who looks/likes or doesnt look/like it....

The RS4 is ALL things to me! (not really fussed if its all things to all men LoL)

enjoy it mate - perfect choice

(put it this way i never thought I'd actually ever own one til I took the plunge a few months back - and there is ZERO regret)

Im 30 and had mine since July. Loving it - best car i have had yet and that's coming from a Cooper S works, 350Z & Z4 M Coupe.

My view is do it if you can when you are young before any sprogs come along - would be hard to justify to the other half otherwise.

I clearly have a weakness and if i thought about all the ££ i have lost on them then I think i would cry but you only live once!

Would love to know the cars they think you should drive!
