Hi all,
I'm wondering if anyone out ther has changed the exhaust pipe parts on a V8 RS4 from cat back (to remove the centre boxes) but then kept the original rear boxes in place?
I'm keen to find out the drawbacks etc.
cheers all
Rob

I have removed the resonators from my car and replaced them with an x-pipe. Gives a exhaust note as loud on OE sport mode with the valves closed and louder still and deeper in sport mode plus a decent lift off throttle pop as well. There is a little resonance drone in sport mode at aroud 1800 rpm but when the valves are closed this is eliminated.

I intend to replced my cats and down pipes next and keep the OEM silencers as the exhaust fabricator I use reckons they can tolerate then increased flow.

Hi P G
Thats really interesting, the milltek part i've bought is also listed on ebay (item no. 330352454308) if you get a chance have a lookj and see what you think?
I do't want it too loud but i also didn't really want to change the rear boxes so thought it might be a good solution?
Cheers
Rob

They'll probably work but you'll also need jointing paste and two clamps per pipe end to secure it

To add my 2p worth...

About a month or so ago I decatted mine using custom made Milltek downpipes ordered from MRC (apart from them being 60mm too long and needing to be cut and rewelded in the workshop), I am very happy with the result. No EPC light after 2-3k miles and that is with a standard map, was supposed to get the remap done at the same time but circumstances consipred against me and I have yet to find time again to get it flashed. I did manage to get a RR done after the decats were fitted and a healthy 15bhp (at the wheels) increase across the rev range was given

The noise level is 100% acceptable with decats on an otherwise std system. There is no drone, and the volume is just right. There are not ''rally car'' pops and bangs, but there is a nice burble when coming off throttle.
