What to do when the warranty expires?
What to do when the warranty expires?
It's her 3rd birthday in a couple of weeks and I was just wondering what people's thoughts are on purchasing the extended warranty.
If the DRC is theoretically covered for five years now, given the good mechanical reliability record of these cars is it better to just take the risk? Or do third party warranties cost less and are just as good?

I reckon I'll probably be selling mine next summer, so come November when the warranty is up, I'll be renewing for that exact reason.davidkoulakis wrote:when I go RS 4 shopping next year, I will ONLY be buying one with an Audi Warranty...make of that what you will - but effect on resale should be taken into account
I extended, £1200 limited mileage, including Roadside assistance, I have put it to use already so it def came i handy. however as said above, if you know of a cheap VAG workshop that can do the work then happy days, My car broke down in France yesterday, got recovered to Folkestone (not ARA), had Audi roadside come out, flatbed the car up to London, next morning (today) roadside flat bedded car off to Audi dealership, and courtesy car dropped off. all this on my extended warranty, problem was the Hydraulic clutch hose. so im happy I took out the extra extended warranty.
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

What other company could match that ????sonny wrote:I extended, £1200 limited mileage, including Roadside assistance, I have put it to use already so it def came i handy. however as said above, if you know of a cheap VAG workshop that can do the work then happy days, My car broke down in France yesterday, got recovered to Folkestone (not ARA), had Audi roadside come out, flatbed the car up to London, next morning (today) roadside flat bedded car off to Audi dealership, and courtesy car dropped off. all this on my extended warranty, problem was the Hydraulic clutch hose. so im happy I took out the extra extended warranty.

not sure, but the bottom line of the thread is, would you extend your warranty or not, iv had a similar thing happen to me before with the car, where it had to a low loader due to a non starter issue, so warranty is a must at such early mileage on any of te RS4s, the risk is not wort it IMHO

Surely the issue with sonny's car is a breakdown one? Sure, the hose may have needed replacing, but the cost of the repatriation is what is normally covered by breakdown cover...
You can get that kind of thing covered even on the continent on a breakdown policy for ~£100/year!
Audi get away with charging insane prices for their warranty cover because people keep buying it...
The warranty surely only affects a private resale as any garage will warranty the car even if it doesn't have any of the original warranty left...
My $0.02.

Seconded; the only time me having a warranty will affect resale is if I private sale. Given I am keeping the car for a good while yet and the warranty prices the money is staying in my pocket.
Anyway, looks like I would have to shell out at least 2.5k now given what has been said as I should have renewed 3 weeks ago so to go to them now will cost nearly double. That in itself is scandalous.
