Does anyone know a good cycle carrier that will fit the RS4? I assume there is no problem fitting one to an RS4 that will fit a standard A4?

i want one too..preferably a roof rack type affair.

Officially it will have to be a roof rack cycle carrier since Audi do not approve the fitting of a tow bar to the RS4 - due to problems with engine cooling.

skoda do a hydraulic bike lift roof rack. No idea if it is possible to adapt to RS4

I just use a couple of Thule ProRides with aero bars and two sets of adapters for the A3 & RS4 depending on which car I take...

Thule is the way to go.. Get the below.

I got mine a month ago, about 250 all in I think but that was for two Thule ProRides..

I went for OutRides for carrying the bikes. With Outrides you remove the front wheel and the bike attaches by the forks so it makes for a slightly lower overall height which I needed for the car park at work. Being Thule I'm sure the ProRides are secure but have seen bikes waggle from side to side on others cars.

You don't say whether your an Avant or saloon? That said it doesn't matter, Thule are the way to go. I've been using Thule roof racks on my last 3 Avants. The same racks near 7 years now. The longest time the rack was on for on any one car was 3 1/2 years. It never left a permanent mark on the roof rails of either the alloy clear colour or the black rails of my S4 Just make sure the feet and the mounting points on the car are spottlessly clean at the time of fitting.

I don't use the areo bars as I figured with the bike on what difference is an oval bar going to make when the wind is howling around the rest of the bike rack and the bike. But of course there is the rare times the bike is not on the roof. So it is interesting to hear that they could make a difference.

Aways lock the bike rack though they can open of their own doing!

maybe a daft question but why would you need a bike roof rack on an avant?? could you not just put it in the back?....

OOOoo I couldn't possibly risk putting the dirty beast in my usually prinstine interior. To great a risk of damage not just dirt to the interior and even the exterior.

What about a cycle carier for saloons ? Are there any decent ones out there ?

I have to say I only use my carrier(s) when I need to carry 2 bikes.

I've just done another 320 miles today in the pouring rain up to Coed Y Brenin and back with the bike in the back of the car...just put a few rugs down and the interior (nor the carbon) doesn't get marked at all.

Marcus-RS4 - Tried the link - what one did you buy as there are about 10 on the page.

I called Audi last night for a price for a bike rack - the RS4 roof is the same dimensions as the A4 so they quoted me 2 x roof bars and cycle holders. He said I can go up and see them fitted if I want.
