How to reset adaptive ECU settings - again
How to reset adaptive ECU settings - again
Hi guys
Sorry to bring this up again, but can anyone remember how to 'reset' the engines adaptive ecu settings???
Its been driving around a small island for the last 9 months and it just doesn't feel the same animal as it once was. Just had its second service and I asked them to reset the settings but they had never heard of anything like this.
I did search the forums and people talked about Camberley Audi being able to do it, but never really explained what they did - so I can pass it on to my dealer. Is it something that can be done through VAG??
thanks
David

Hi,
Performing a Throttle Body Alignment ( TBA) through VAG-Com is suppost to reset the adaptive learned values. The only way to do a TBA is via Vag-Com. There are a lot of old wife's tales about opening the bonnet, ... etc.
See http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/throttlebody.html
BTW, the message from no_RS was something that I discovered while reading a technical article about the Bosch Motronic system. If the brake is applied and released and the throttle immediately pressed, the ECU thinks you are left foot braking and trying to balance the car around a corner and will honour the "torque request" from the throttle pedal without any clever adaptive logic, etc.
Regards, Chris.

I thought that only reset the TBA learned values, not the learned values for injection and ignition timing?nihc wrote:Performing a Throttle Body Alignment ( TBA) through VAG-Com is suppost to reset the adaptive learned values. Yep echo the above.
Learnt values are done by going into 10 - adaptation, and then 00 - reset to factory default.........AFAIK anyway!
