Hotchkis Roll Bar - Check the bolts!

Post by rs4v8 » Mon May 25, 2009 9:35 pm

Arrived home yesterday and the car started making a rubbing noise from the back as I was pulling onto my drive.

I had a horrible feeling that one of the shocks had gone in a big way.

Turns out the single bolts connecting both ends of my hotchkis sway bar to the suspension had come loose :-( One had fallen out completely and the other was nearly out too despite both being loctited in

The one that had fallen out completely had allowed the bar to move forward and rub on the drive shaft causing the noise. Given enough time I reckon this would have milled right through it!

Suffice to say, if you've got a Hotchkis, check the bolts!

Yikes, that's rough.

Did you use loctite red or blue?
How long did you wait before driving the car?

The blue stuff that came in the box. Left overnight to let it dry :-(

Car is up on ramps with a saggy exhaust till the new bolt arrives - which should be thursday due to the bank holiday. A whole 46p inc VAT too!!

I am sure quite a few people with these sway bars had similar loose bolts like yours. Glad no major damage done to your car.
