B7 RS4 Front Discs/Pads, and tyres

I have just bought a B7 RS4 avant and knew I would be needing to change the front discs/pads.

Q1. Any suggestions except dealer parts on a good alternative reasonably priced?

Q2. I also need to replace the tyres, and wish to stick to the original size... does anyone recommend other makes except Michelin Pilot's?

Any comments back would be much appreciated.

There are a few traders on here who will sell you discs and pads or try Regsitered E-bay sellers. Or better still, find you local VAG spare parts centre as they are invariably cheaper than buying from a dealer.

As for tyres irrspective of size Goodyear F1 Assymetrics are getting the best reviews along with Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas although not sure if the latter do come in OEM size (I think they do but don't quote me)

Has anyone here tried Nitto INVO tyres?

Jhmotorsport sell replacement discs for 450 usd. Google the shop and browse through parts.
Get a set of ferodo ds2500 pads (you actually need 2sets).
255/35,265/30,265/35,275/30,275/35 are tire sizes that will work great. Michelin ps2 sport are a great tire but do use the search button for tires as its been beaten to death.

If you look on eBay, registered seller dsgwagen sells original VAG parts for a fraction of the cost. Rear set of discs & pads plus postage - £500.

I've just managed to put two Pirelli PZero Rossos on for £420, if your near the North East of England I'll give you the address.

Hope this helps.

F1's aren't made in the standard size. I have the Vredesteins, and they are one of the best tyres I've had and good value too

Ouch Gordon, that's £210 per corner for a tyre with not long life. PS2's are only £20 per corner more expensive. The F1's I have were £180 fitted and Vredesteins can be had for £150 per corner fitted.

They do make F1's in 255/35 now. People first started using the 275/30's because they didn't but that is no longer the case.

I stand corrected. Obviously a very recent change my GY, as they didn't make them in December. Still wouldn't change - very happy with my Vredesteins

Sorry about that - seems when i send you a PM it doesn't go - funny that as it works with others. Oh well.
Others may benifit also and save a few quid so I'll just post as norm....

Anyway, I checked everywhere and apart from the fact that they all quoted higher prices - no one had any in stock.

The number is 01403241346 - Express car parts ltd (135 delivered incl postage and VAT)

Only problem I had was that the pads are listed as RS4 items and you need to file a tiny amount off the locating hole where they sit in calipers. As soon as you fit them you'll notice what I mean.

Many pads (ebc etc) are the same as they are for RS6 fittment although listed as RS4 also. (check previous posts on same - its how I found out)

Nearly forgot - don't get a gargage to fit them.
Providing you have a jack and a little tech knowledge, the job is easy.
Took 20 mins eack side.

If not sure drop me a PM and I'll keep you right (else do a quick post and someone will advise - honestly its as easy as changing motorcycle brakes).
