Can the carbon/aluminium/piano/wood trim be interchanged?

Most of the RS4s I see for sale tend to have the carbon fibre trim inserts. It's not too high on the wish list for me and I could live with it if the rest of the car was ok. But if I bought one with, say, carbon trim could it easily be changed for one of the other options?
I quite like aluminium, have only seen one car with the piano black inserts and like that too.

Wood looked pretty awful in a car I saw for sale a month or so ago.

Sorry to offend anyone but each-to-their-own and all that.

Nick

All the wood/black/carbon trim inserts are interchangeable, but check the price before you go buying a car with trim that you an't live with. They are not cheap to replace the 4 door pieces and the 3 dash pieces.

Cost is just over £300 for the piano black trim from Audi.

Same here, the A4s mostly have wood, aluminium or black; the S4's mostly have carbon and the RS4s also have carbon - but it's a different weave to the carbon on the S4. It's a small detail but one which, for me, adds to the special feel of the RS4.

I originally thought I would go for the aluminium inserts but when I saw the quality and finish of the carbon weave effect I changed my mind and was delighted with the carbon finish. The aluminium looked at bit cheapo and old hat IMHO.

The carbon on the rs4 is the 19 oz carbon - the real deal so i have been told.

My RS4 currently has the aluminum trim, but I'll be ordering the carbon trim soon.

Don't blame you, the cf inserts transform the interior. They are a must have IMHO.

Slightly off topic, I noticed there are 2 types of interior console buttons, the ones i have are black, I have seen others that have the chrome line at the base of the buttons? was this a face lift option? sorry no pics handy

I think the ones with chrome are from the cab, another 'learnt the hard way' tip from when I retro-fitted SDS.

Only very early RS4's should have the buttons without the chrome line. When I ordered my Avant in February 2006 the first 2007MY B7 A4's were coming through with the chrome line buttons, and mine had them when it arrived in July 2006.

I went with the brushed aluminium, for me it lifts the dark interior and matches the flat-bottom wheel

OK mines a Mar 2006 model, strange how they did not all come with it, is it worth retro fitting, cost wise ect?
