Right, in short, have Audi actually issued anything to say that if you want to be rid of this issue then take your motors back in to an Audi dealer, wave a piece of paper at them and they will replace the system, under warranty, with something that will not give all this grief from now on in?

No. What they've offered is an extended warranty on the existing system, and re-designed parts.

DRC offers a soft spring rate for the times you're going in a straight line, but a high spring rate for better cornering. No single rate system can offer that balance - progressive rate springs and magnetic ride dampers are the only other system I can think of that would offer that combination without breaking the rules of physics.

Such a shame. I'm sure the car is fab in every respect and I'd go buy one tomorrow but the thought of it constantly being in the shop being repaired and even then the repairs will only be a short term solution until it goes wrong again makes me look elsewhere.

I would'nt say the RS4 is a vehicle which is always having to be repaired. I've had mine for 25 months and this is the first problem I've ever had. And it's hardly a major issue to me.

My nearside front shocker is leaking - first problem for me. The car is going in tomorrow for them to have a look, what excuses should I look out for?

This is a known problem that Audi has informed dealers about. I simply told my dealer that I had an occasional (and I really do mean occasional) knock when turning right. They just went ahead and ordered the new shocks from Germany without any questions aimed at me. You should not have any problems.

Don't make the mistake of thinking that DRC problems affect all RS4s. Remember this is an enthusiast group (so we use our cars harder than most), and people normally only post when they have problems (how many posts have you see that say "I don't have a DRC problem"? - very few).

Well - I've had my RS4 Avant from new since July 2006, have done 29,000 miles and I DON'T have a DRC problem. It's been in the garage for regular servicing and that's it.

Similarly so, I have had my car for coming up to 2 years, it has covered 42000 miles and only had DRC issues 2 months ago and noen since, so hardly in the service centr all the time. Compared to BMW's Fords and Vauxhalls I have driven this is bombproof.

mine doesn't have DRC so no problems.(so make me an offer)
