How do other drivers react to the RS4??

how do you find other drivers react/treat you when you are in the RS4?? I would imagine its not the kind of car which many people would realise is a 414bhp monster. Do you still get the idiots in saxo's / imprezas trying to race you everytime they see you??

I imagine 95% don't see it as anything other than a tdi A4! Which is a good thing IMHO
The other 5% is split between the knowing glance or 'have a go' camps.

When I come up behind them, they jump out of the way. When in the RS6, on one bothers at all - which is a pain as when they finally pull over I am passed them into 3 figures chicker than they thought possible...

Most people don't recognise an RS4 Avant as anything different from an A4 - so when "grandad" (I'm 53) in his "boring estate" leaves a throttle blipping Saxo with an illegally loud exhaust for dead at the next traffic lights, or overtakes them with ease and rapidly pulls away, the looks of total surprise on their faces are to die for. When my wife is driving it's even funnier...

A couple of years ago maybe 1 person in 100 recognised an RS4 as something special, but the "hype" has died down now and I find it's a really good "stealth-mobile".

The bird was following a colleague in mine on their way to work one morning (in a bit of a spirited fashion). They came up behind some slower traffic and slowed down a bit. The boy said to her later, you could have easily got past me there. To which she replied, I could have easily got past you, the two cars AND the lorry!! Made my day!

The only reaction my car has ever prompted occurred while driving through East London one weekend.
A group of young Asian lads pulled up alongside me at a set of traffic lights, in a Mercedes-Halfords 190E.
The driver informed me that my car was, and I'm paraphrasing here, "Wikkid, innit."
Praise indeed, I'm told.

I don't get much reaction. Only had 2 x sti's challenge me so far. They either don't know what the car is or see a girl at the wheel and think I drive like Miss Daisy.

Other than big R E S P E C T from other petrol heads.

While I was stopped at some traffic lights in Kensington late one night (1am). Some German lads crossed the road in front of me then spotted my black RS4 saloon. They promptly dropped to their knees and bowed before their automotive god. Shouting with joy "RS4" (in German). My wife and I were in stitches. I gave them an open valved rev and they loved it. Funny!

Also my wife gets lots of "older men" talking to her about the car when in petrol stations when she's on her own. Maybe it's just the missus?

I don't have one yet...

However if i see any rs audi big respect. See one most mornings if going to the office (saloon, OV06 - RS4 blue - forget actual name), but will always spot one and think nice.

Slight off topic, but one of the most amusing thinks i have ever seen was a chavved up saxo give an RS4 saloon grief, the saxo then over took the rs4 and pulled back in (this was in a 60mph zone). The rs4 then pulled out and overtook the saxo and disappeared at warp factor 10!! fantastic!

As ChrisCSL has observed (and no doubt others) on the continent, the RS series cars are a big deal...

Here in the UK, the population is too ignorant to know better (I'm showing my prejudice here).

Just the way I like it...

I pulled out infront of a white transit a few days ago. When we came up to the lights he pulled along side wound his window down. I though here we go wait for the verbal abuse. But no, to my surprise the driver and his two mates were egging me on to rev it up. When I did they were like 3 kids in a sweet shop - ohh the power of Milltek.

Had a new Impreza STI V5 once. Left it parked up at the NEC, came back 30mins later and there was a crowd of about 20 people all round it. My first though was oh f**k its been broken into. Then I realised it was a car club visiting a show. At the time it was a bit embarrasing pushing through to get to the drivers door, felt like a celebrity.

that seems pretty positive on the whole, which is good.
