b7 general

Post by jds67 » Mon Feb 02, 2009 8:44 pm

Hi everyone, recently registered on the site, but i have been a visiter for some time. Sold my b5 misano stage 3 458 bhp mtm to Easto 2 years ago and have missed it since. Nearly purchased a b7 new, but ended up renovating an old cottage instead !! Just finished and i've got the bug again. Looking for a b7 avant black, but i can't make up my mind about the black optics pack. what are the general thoughts on this option ? and could this option be reversed ? Also are there any avants on 08 or 58 plates ? Finally are there any meets in the midlands ?

Personally I don't like the black optics, especially on black cars. I think it looks too boring and lacking in contrast. So I have a black Avant with the standard optics.

It's very expensive to swap between standard and black optics - grille is easy, windows surrounds are bonded to some of the side windows so you would need some new windows, and on an Avant the roof rails would need replacing as well (which is a roof lining out job).

Ditto, there is just something a little too S-line about it for me, especially the black mirrors. However wouldn't life be dull if we all thought the same.

I've got black optics and black wheels and tinted front windows. It's called 'The Panther' MatthewS' picture, above, is testament to how fantastic it looks.

Although I should say "how fantastic it looks, when clean" which is never, or for about 2 mins after washing. Go for sprint blue with black optics.

See for me that really needs titanium coliured mirrors to finish the look off and match the wheels, otherwise it appears compromised.
