Recall's currently ongoing..?

My car has gone in for the following warranty work:

- Both front seats re-covered
- Sporadic front park sensors
- Secondary air injection system fault (intermittent)
- Knocking front suspension

In addition to that they have also got me in for 2 recalls:

- Fuel pump (critical)
- Spare wheel area (didn't get the exact description)

Any idea what the recalls are for?

My car was booked in for recall for the battery fixing, which could be the spare wheel area you mention. Think it's due to a very small chance of movement of the battery under extreme driving. I was umdervthe impression it was a glueing something extra in job but my appointment has just been cancelled as apparently they need a special tool which, surprise surprise, is on back order with no expected date of delivery. Anyone else had this done and does that sound right?
I'm not worried about the recall as I dont think there's any worries about the car at all, just wondering if they're making excuses?

The fuel pump is the sender control unit, apparently on some models it is intermitently faulty and prevalent to the cold and part of the cold running issues so upgraded module put in, spare wheel recall is as discussed by iana74

To be pedantic none of the issues described are recalls - a recall is a safety affecting issue which should be carried out ASAP - but they are service issues - i.e. Audi want to fix them next time the car visits an Audi dealer.

If it's a recall you get an official letter saying "bring your car in now because the brakes are dodgy, a wheel will fall off, WHY".

Dave, Audi are classifying them as 'recall's' albeit only to be checked when the car comes in for something else as I was advised as the same.

I am not de-flapped (de catted though ). Apparently the pipes used by the secondary air injection system are crap and prone to craking. They have done a few of them

No doubt, but then Colebrook & Burgess Service Managers have a habit if using the wrong technical terms, remember B7 RS4's are cambelt driven!

Spare wheel area (didn't get the exact description)

I can shed some light on this one for you.

Back in July/August last year, I found a crack in the boot floor of my RS4 saloon. If you remove the sponge insert that holds the tyre foam and pump etc you'll see there's a 'tab' welded to the boot floor on the right hand end of the battery (as you look at it) that holds the battery down. Mine had about a 2 inch long crack running away from this weld.

I took it to Camberley Audi (my local - and yes, I have had a DRC failure that they sorted for me) and they looked at the weld and thought it looked 'after sale' and didn't think it'd be covered on warranty. So I took it to Reading Audi (where I bought the car) who agreed that it was an original factory weld (after comparing to another car on the forecourt) and agreed to fix it under warranty. They took photos and sent them off to Audi for advice and in the end it went into the bodyshop for about three days where they welded it up and resprayed around the area. I thought the job looked fine considering it was hidden away in the boot floor and I was happy.

Two weeks ago, I find out that they have 'recalled' the cars to 'inspect' the boot floors for this fault - including mine. Obviously there have been enough cases to trigger a recall. I explained that I'd had the fix done last year but apparently Audi have now issued guideance on how the fix should be carried out and it would appear that the fix they made to my car probably doesn't comply. On Monday, they had the car for the day and took a look at the boot floor again - it'd cracked again (I hadn't noticed). This time, the crack is only about an inch long. Anyway, they've taken more photos and sent them to Audi again for further advice.

All I know at the moment is that Audi are going to advise them on what to do, but it's likely that I'll be getting a new boot floor in the car. It's booked in to them for a week in a couple of weeks time.

The cracking at the RH battery bracket point is indeed the known issue.

Just looked in my boot and sure enough there's a small (20mm) crack by the bracket, with slight signs of rusty seepage.

Booked in to be attended to.

Had my car in for a brake fluid service (2 years old next month) and they confirmed that they have a recall on the car to check the boot area however Abdn Audi do not have the tool to perform the task yet. They will call me when it is available.

Ugh .. I bet I can guess what that is .. below are the DRC Cylinders .. so remove and weld ...

I am not letting them near my car unless it has the problem ...
