Car went in for its first service yesterday. Got a phone call saying service complete but the car needs 2 front dampers replacing. After reading the threads on here, I feared the worst, they say up to 2 weeks to get the parts and the system reset-up. At least they have given me a 58 plate Q7 for the duration as they have kept my car. Lets see how long this really all takes.

My RS4 had its first service yesterday and I got virtually the same phone call.
Luckily, I'd arranged the service well before it was required (I don't like running performance engines for much more than 6k miles without an oil change). Consequently my shocks aren't too bad, so I can drive the car normally until they're replaced in about 2 weeks.

Ive had a similar issue. Mine was booked in today to have new front shocks. I got there, then they told me the parts were on back order, with no expected delivery date! They said it could take anywhere up to two months!!!
So they gave me my car back. What a waste of time! At least my car got a complementary wash!

Hmmmm..... beware of the complimentary wash! I have some nice scratches on my roof where the young car washer, using his sponge and cold water hose pipe, kindly washed my car whilst it was in for replacement DRC suspension. I always request 'DO NOT WASH MY CAR' but on this occasion it unfortunately fell on deaf ears. As I did not notice the scratches upon collection, I have no come-back against the garage. Moral - do not collect your car after dark!

Yes, fair point. Its not easy for me to clean my car where I park it - and it was filthy. Ive only had it a few months and the paint is not ideal condition. Im planning on waiting for the weather to improve, then investigate some detailing.
Let get the DRC fixed first though!

I'd be interested to know if other people are waiting for parts; would then also be interested if we all get told the same delivery date when it shows up on their system!
Bristol Audi couldnt give me a date at all, they said I could be waiting for days, weeks and even months just for an expected delivery date - and then they said that date could change as well!
My DRC issue is pretty mild at the moment, so they've given me my car back, lets hope it dosent completly fail before the part arrive! I jokingly told them that by the time the offside front parts had arrived, I'd be needing the nearside too - they didnt find that funny

Did you ask them to check the part numbers against the newer parts list?

I didnt have the part numbers to hand, but I asked them about the new parts and they assured me that if new parts were available I would get them. I wasnt so convinced. They say part numbers are all ordered based on the chassis number - so presumably they order what the Audi computer says...

Service rang today. Parts with dept. and should be fitted tomorrow and ready for saturday. Just put £40 in diesel in the Q7 yesterday as I was expecting it taking a lot longer... Bugger!

Don't forget that the opposing damper & valve should be replaced also because of loss of pressure in system.

Have not had an issue with DRC but reading about the many that have it appears to be like herpes it keeps coming back!! Is their anyone who has had new shocks and no more problems? At least Audi have sort of put their hands up to the problem.
