Nokia N85 / N96

Post by markweems » Thu Jan 22, 2009 10:34 am

Does anyone know if the bluetooth on the Nokia N85 or N96 is compatible with the Audi system? Am wanting to upgrade my mobile from an old Nokia 6230i and am wondering what is the best option to move into the 21st century!

Thanks

Got a N96 and works ok for answering or making calls. You cant access your phonebook though. Only one so far that I have found was a 6300. Put my sim in that, transferred my phonebook and went back to the N96.

I had the OEM Bluetooth kit fitted last week and my N96 works a treat. Phonebook transferred without a problem. Guy fitting it also told me you can now get an Ipod connection that shows all the playlists etc without losing the CD Changer. Cheers

Whether the phonebook transfers depends on two things it appears.

If you have an older version of the Audi Bluetooth module in your car you can normally get access to the call lists and phonebook if you install the Nokia Contacts Manager onto your phone, provided that the Audi Bluetooth module has been correctly coded to enable the enhanced features.

If you have a pretty new Audi Bluetooth module, the coding of that just needs to be correct.

I have an N95 8GB and it works perfectly.

To transfer the phonebook you have have to load a Nokia software program. It's called "
Nokia 810 Contact Download Application for Nokia S60 3rd edition devices" and can be found here:

http://europe.nokia.com/A4143881

Once you've loaded it on to the N95 and you are connected via bluetooth to the car you can start the application and your phonebook will transfer. You only have to do this once. From then on the phonebook updates automatically.
Bail out, bail out, bail out.
Do I have to wait for you to say it three times.......

I tried this download with the N96 and you still can't see the phone book?

It also depends on how old your phone kit is in the car, it requires a Q version onward of December 2007.

How do you obtain this Q version? I have a March 06 saloon?

Thanks

It needs to be replaced and recoded. It is located under the drivers carpet in a large plastic box.
