I've got a 2007 RS4. It's got 41500 miles, and the clutch has started to slip occasionally. I took it to my dealer and they think I need a new clutch. Seems a little early, though I know it's a light feeling clutch for a fair amount of power. How long have your clutches lasted?

85k before mine went,and what a bang it went with i thought the engine had fallen out LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

don't let the dealers do your clutch unless you've two and a half
grand spare!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine, @ 36k is putting me in trouble!!!
All of a sudden, car's stuck, gears just can't work...no way.
Isn't too early without any f...notice?

1400 miles on the cab.

Then another 4 before 3000 miles....

Audi then had it back as they couldnt fix it!

Make sure the pressure pipes are done also,

WTF! Are these things soft or what? I mean Oil deposit problems, smoke on start-up like a chip van, trouble with the shock absorbers and now clutches failing at 11k!

I'm beginning to think twice about this thing!

I've ran plenty of cars with more turque than this with no clutch problems for at all for many many miles.

RS04COM - don't forget that what people post are the problems they have ... for every owner posting as problem here there will be many NOT having the problem. Remember too that we are the enthusiasts so we expect more of our cars and use them harder than most owners.

I remember an engineer at Ford's Research Centre at Dunton in Essex telling me that when people have a problem with their car they tell at least 7 other people but when their car is working OK they tell nobody!

Don't make the mistake of thinking that a post here means that ALL RS4's have the problem. A car is made up of thousands of components, it's pretty amazing that they are as reliable as they are...

I agree with PetrolDave as yet I have not had any issues with my car(famous last words)in over two years of running it. If you look at the reliability of other high performance cars you will find that they all have issues.Reading the GTR report in evo the cost of a set of pads & discs if ever needed would set you back £36,000 that would bring tears to my eyes. Overall cost of running my car are quite acceptable even the £1200 for the extended waranty when my car is 3 years old.

Mind Terry the £36,000 is for brakes on the V-spec, not on the normal GT-R. However they are still pricey at £4K!

RS04COM, you have to take a more open minded view on this forum. I'll tell you know and I touch wood whilst I write this that after 46,000 miles, 30,000 of which in just under two years are through me, my RS4 has not put a foot wrong where I have had to pay for it.

DRC yes, but done under warranty, brakes yes but done under good will. What do you expect from what is essentially a family car with a supercar engine in it? The issues don't concern me one bit because I haven't had a peformance car from any other marque that hasn't had as many if not mofe problems that gives me the same level of enjoyment.

If it bothers you so much either don't frequent here or sell your car, however personally I think you wuld be making a massive mistake if you believe you can find a better all round pound for pound car.

like dave and p-g have said you dont get your knickers in a twist...on all forums you get the beechy head type storys. the only thing that is a given is there does seem a problem with the drc the janking up issue of the inlet manifold could be? but go on any forum of any motor and you will find the same..... i love the chip van quote made me bust up
