Evening all.

I know that there will no doubt be a number of discussions on tyres already on here but i have just had my second service and have been told that all 4 require changing (on 2mm tread) but quoted me about £264.00 each for Pirelli P Zeros, which i though was a bit steep.

Just had a couple of queries:-

1. What tyres you guys recommend? P Zeros, Michellin or Contiental?

2. Can anyone recommend a good tyre fitting center in or near to Sheffield with competitive prices that also do tracking?

Your right, this have been covered lots of times

In short, p-zeros are just to soft and wear VERY quickly. 264 per corner is also daylight robbery.

The choice tyre of the moment is the michilin ps2 or goodyear f1 ass. Someone got a set of 4 f1's fitted for £680 last week ( and they are a wider tyre at 275mm)

Costco also do good prices on P Zero's - and theyve got a 20% discount on at the moment.

i had the goodyear f1 asym 255 and it was a good tyre but only lasted me 7000miles on all 4 corners, previous to this i had the P Zero which even though people tell me is softer lasted me 11,000 miles... at present i have the michelin PS2's on all 4 corners fitted by the dealer for £1000 total - only done 1000 miles so far so unable to comment but they handle well

My experience is this:

OE - PZero Rosso which only lasted 9,000 miles

Replaced with PS2 which lasted 13,000 miles

Currently F1 Asymmetric 275/30 which have done 6,000 miles and have a lot of life left in them

IMHO the current price for PS2s (I was quoted over £1200 for 4 by Micheldever, and only £720 for the F1s) is too high, and the life of PZero Rossos is too short to make them a sensible option.

Costco also do good prices on P Zero's - and theyve got a 20% discount on at the moment.

I think you'll find Costco only do Michelin's and yes they do have 20% off 4 at the moment, worth a look as the PS2 is a rocking tyre!!

I realise that the PS2's have superior aspects to them over the Goodyears and vice versa, however when a PS2 will cost upward of £250 per corner (I was quoted at cheapest £1235 for four fitted) and a Goodyear costs £170 per corner (£700 allin fitted) it is the reason I went for Goodyears. Now I know the old arguement what price is there on safety but realisticallt the Goodyear performs as well if not better than the PS2 for a fraction of the cost. I would also recommend the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta, know a few people with these now and they think they are fantastic tyres and only £150 per corner, all prices based on 255/35 ZR19 96Y prices albeit Vredesteins are a bit of an unknown on the wear rate at present.

If you are looking for wet performance I would put money on the Vredesteins being better than both the F1 and PS2.

Vredesteins make great tyres without the premium. My experience with them also suggests wear rates are very good. If the F1 prices continues to rise I will be fitting Vredesteins on my next change,

I had a few "nervous moments" in the wet on PS2s, yet to have that experience on Goodyears.

On Monday we had strong rain and winds on the south coast and the M27 had lots of running and standing surface water, I had no issues at all when I went out during the day. The Goodyears were totally confidence inspiring in those conditions.

Totally agree. I have had both on my car and the Goodyears come out on top for me, even on track. Cheaper to boot.
