Hi

Anyone had their screen replaced, if so any recommendations / things to watch out for etc?

Just like to say a big thank you to the white transit van that insisted on doing 50+ on a road with newly laid stone chips, undertaking me and throwing a big stone up at my screen! And to add insult to injury I was taken the car to the dealer to have the DRC repaired!!!!

I had the same issue about a week after i picked up the car, Auto windscreen tried to fix the chip but made it worse. Then the only problem i had was the insurance company wanted to fit an after market screen but after talking to them they agreed to fit a genuine AUDI screen which took about an hour.

I had a new screen a month or so back. Apparently the OEM screens are Pilkington, that's what I got and it's fine.

Make sure you tell them if you have the rain sensor.

Take it to the windscreen fitter, if two people lower it in place, less chance they will damage any paint etc .. and as above it is an additional part for the rain sensor 'rain drop', otherwise you will have a clear area at the top of the screen ..

Just when I thought it was all sorted!! Autoglass (insurance companies only windscreen supplier) Are saying then will not fit genuine Audi screen unless I pay £150 on top of my £60 access and that their screen is exactly the same as Audi's but without an Audi badge. Sounds like I am being feed a line here!

If it doesnt have an Audi badge on it, its not exactly the same is it? ;) I find that the non-oem ones have a cheaper looking black section around the edge :(

You have a right to a like-for-like replacement... especially since the value of the vehicle is so high and its new(ish)... moan, complain, kick all the toys out of the pram :)

I had a similar issue when replacing the screen in my 996 a few years back - Autoglass quoted two prices, one for an OEM one and one for an "identical" non-OEM replacement. Insurance company paid for the OEM one, so wasn't a problem. The only downside was a longer wait to get the screen in, as it had to come from Porsche.

As I say mine is Pilkington and is identical to OEM. I really don't think it's worth making a fuss over.

for a 10 year old Corsa I would not make a fuss .. but for MY RS4 I certainly would ...
