So has anyone had a remap in the uk?

I remember reading a post a while back stating that the throttle is never fully opened below about 5k rpms, surely if the likes of Revo, Superchips etc lift this limit your notice a huge difference even without acutally changing the rest of the rev range.
Anyone had a remap to prove this?

Yes. MRC Map, but got custom downpipes as well at same time.
There is a big difference, don;t notice it so much now though. I got a run in a R8 this morning and the response is similiar to that. Pulls harder at top end. You can now if you are being aggresive, get the back end to snap out on roundabouts in the dry. I have a feeling that is why the throttle was restricted initially.

Yes, mine has a DMS re-map along with Milltek Resonated & Valved Cat Back pipes.
The difference is very noticable, although on a dyno you should expect only a 5-7% increase in power, but the changes to the power delivery are pretty dramatic.

So if your remaps increase the throttle below 5k to 100% if you foot is hard down, I'm guessing there is no longer a surge at 5krpm?

Nope there is the surge (due to VTEC type movement). I had MRC reduce this from 5.2 to 4.8k revs. At this rev range it is not as noticeable but still there.

Go to JD Eng if you want the map that you are talking about.
He is without a doubt the most knowledgable person/company with regards to the RS4.
There is a noticable difference at full throttle below 5k rpm but less so after that. The JD Eng remap allows the exhaust flaps to stay open in sport mode all the time which gives an extra 10NM on its own, also as far as im aware he is still the only person who can do such programming.

Looks like another MRC / DMS / JDE Mexican standoff!

Don't forget to through REVO in there too!

What about these guys then?
I can never understand from these plots why at 5000rpm the graph isn't steeper as you get the V8 power surge.

Had my 06 RS4 done by Superchips on 4th April. They can adjust the sensitivity of the throttle response depending on what you want. I had standard remap and delimit and I'm delighted. Much better throttle response and sharper acceleration plus none of that slow speed shut off when you change gear lazily.

So the big question is, if you have a remap, can Audi detect you have had it?

The simple answer is yes. In fact it is true of any aftermarket chip. It is even sometimes possible to detect when it has been re-flashed to stock.
Bottom line is if you think that ability to detect is a way to avoid resale, warranty, or insurance issues, then don't.....
