All,
Not been on for a while, but thought I'd share an amazing insurance quote I just got from Admiral. My renewal came in at £1050, and they've quoted £589 via comparethemarket.com. That's nearly £300 less than anything else I can find.
I've just called to run through all the details, and it seems legit.
FYI - Fully comp, protected NCB, 35, London, full no claims, 10k/year, £43k, named driver.
Thought you might be intersted.
Cheers,
Bugs.

I'm also with Admiral. can't remember the exact cost, but it was pretty close to £590. By far the cheapest I could find.

What's the compulsory excess?

I had a quote of £359 from www.swiftcover.com but the compulsory excess was £800, when I changed that to the approx £350 of most of the other quotes I had the price went up to nearly £900!

Excesses are:
£150 Fire & Theft
£70 Windscreen
£350 Accidental Damage

Just went to Admiral myself and whilst the quote from comparethemarket.com came out at £534 for a year with mods declared, the assumptions were incorrect about chipping etc. In the end they wouldn't insure me as it's over 10% increase  , at least you guys won't have this problem.. ;-) Doh!

Just been through Confused.com and Admiral were quoting me £1000+ through that portal, £400 more than my current policy with Morethan.

Just took out a policy with morethan for around £400, compared to a renewal quote on my existing Norwich Union policy for over £1000!

The excesses were similar, although I will admit the morethan policy isn't as good, in that they only give you the most basic loan car if your's is off the road, don't automatically cover courtesy cars etc. But for £600 saving I can cope with that!

I pay about 450 with my 28year old wife through directline. I was 34 at time of renewal. 150 excess.

The likes of NU are more expensive normally because you deciide where you want the car repaired etc, with the cheaper companies you may have no say in who repairs it

Just brought an RS4 avant and had a pleasant surprise when looking for insurance.....

35y protected no claims SDC&business use in East Yorkshire- £575 from priviledge but if you buy through Quidco (cashback site), there's £100 cash back taking it to £475 - Damn reasonable for a 45K car if you ask me.

By the way, going off at a tangent - had B5 RS4 & RS6, but I have to say the B7 RS4 knocks spots off both of them - very pleased they decided to keep a manual box - a very impressive toy that certainly puts a smile on your face
