Just to let you guys know that the new R8 arrives on Monday (10th) and I have to say goodbye to the RS4.

She has done 80,000 miles and been really superb, but she is going to a great home.

I am sure the R8 is going to be fantastic, however I am not sure how reliable a hand-built car will be doing 45,000 miles per year - we'll see.

There have, apparently been 15 recall's issued already....

Anyway, realy loooking forward to her arrival, but will of course still keep in contact with you RS guys. The R8 forum seems a little quiet.

Awesome Jon. Enjoy the new toy! please give us a review on the R8 once you're ran it in and able to give it the stick. Cheers.

Enjoy mate, a guy I work with has one and he seems to enjoy it.

Can we ask what you got for the RS4 price wise? It is interesting to see what they are worth with that kind of mileage on them.

Thanks,
R

Very jealous, but it's going to a good home. It's always good to read your posts about driving cars, rather than worrying about what that might be doing to the value...

More than £32K...

R8 has arrived - wow. So different, yet the same. Let me explain...

The power is the same, you can't tell the difference as such, but the dynamics of the car are completely different. I haven't given it some serious welly, as I am just getting used to her handling. It is certainly quite tail happy, - I guess that's because the Quattro will split down to 10% 90%.

Being shorter, the ride is more choppy, and even with magnetic susp on, its still slightly softer that the RS4 with the sports susp. kit. That said, with the magnetic susp off, its a joy around town (if that's possible).

One thing that is really odd, is everyone looks at it as you drive, then they peer in when it's parked, so you feel a bit self contious.

I guess the worst thing is that the Plod will always spot you, so you have to be very careful. One of the nicest things over the RS4 is that plonkers in the outside lane of the motorway tend to get out of the way cause it looks like a sports car! - less lights flashing, and fist waving!

Will keep you updated and post some pics when it stops raining

Bye for now

Jon P

What colour did you order?
Also good luck with the R8.

Jammy git for sure! It'll be interesting to hear how they compare once you've had a proper run in the R8. How does the sound-track compare with the engine's just behind your head? Any scope for "de-valving"?

(thinking about getting one of these after the RS4, until then I'm extremely jealous)
