Still waiting for new shocks to arrive at the Dealership.All the time they are leaking away merrily.They have been on back order now for two weeks.How long has anybody else had to wait?

I had to wait 7 days. N/S/R shock leaking. Made Bedford Audi replace both rears, was a fight through Audi customer services. Finally sorted.

Took a month for new shocks to turn up.

This is a serious problem.

Short version:

Common failure point on B7 RS4.

If you have ONE shock leaking they MUST replace the CENTRAL VALVE as well as the OPPOSITE DIAGONAL shock (that's how they're linked - if one leaks it may well damage the opposite diagonal and/or the valve)

ALSO there is an issue with PRESSURISATION of the system afterwards: they must correctly pressurise the OIL and the GAS side of the system: my dealer did not and I ended up with leaking shocks, a central valve failure, and ultimately a knocking noise on rebound - the subject of my other thread. The GAS pressurisation tool is NOT YET AVAILABLE IN THE UK: my car has been off of the road (at AUDI's recommendation) for 3 weeks now awaiting the tool to arrive having been back-ordered and possibly MANUFACTURED from VAG in Germany.

Of the people who have had leaking dampers on their cars, has anyone got the SS+?

Just interested to know whether this affects both types of dampers

I have the knocking on rebound on standard suspension (not SS+). Should know more about what's going on when it goes in to the dealers this week.

My car has SS+ and leaking front shocks.Its going in on Friday for new shocks and valve.

I have had same kind of problems with my car for at least 6 months now. I got frustrated because they just couldnt get it fixed so I changed the entire suspension to bilstein PSS9. No knocking noises anymore and the car feels great. You can easily adjust the stiffness and ride height is also adjustable.

On the softest setting how does this compare to the standard suspension ride quality?? (I do lots of driving in and around London)

Mine were replaced this week (only the fronts though) so i'm hopeful all should be well.

I'd not noticed the leaking, but had mentioned some knocking when at full lock & over speed bumps & the dealer then spotted the leaking during their investigations.

Car actually feels a tad sharper but that could be in my head, although the rattles & knocks have vanished. TBH i'm glad warranty covered this given the valves are over £500 each

Total warranty bill £1200 & total service bill (plus replace a cracked front spotlamp) £500

I dont know because I have not tried it with softest setting. Im currently using 4 on all corners(1=hardest and 9=softest) and its actually quite comfortable, not too hard at all. Roads here in Finland are pretty crappy so i dont think that you would have any problems in London:-)
