I was at the recording of this show yesterday. They did a group test of RS4, new M3 and the C63. I won't give away the results/conclusions but they were certainly very positive about the RS...

Lucky sod!
I've been waiting for the Top Gear RS4 / M3 comparison ever since the gorge & climbers challenge (when JC said that the new M3 would need to come with a free moon to better it)
How about a little hint?!

Basically it was a tie, with Jeremy preferring the sheer power of the C63, Richard liked the M3 for it's driftability and James preferred the sophistication of the RS (and it's gear knob

).
They did a drag race and a timed lap for comparison.

I really hoped he had preferred the RS...

He did say again that it had the best engine in the world and a fantastic ride.

Good, I feel better

, especially being the oldest car there...

I'm too inpatient! - can you pm me the results of the drag race and lap times?

Fantastic!
I have so been hoping for this comparison from TG and for them to put the RS around the TG track proper. When they did the original RS4 piece they said the Stig went round the track in around 1.25.4 which is proper quick!
Could you PM me the times as well for personal curiosity?

Lucky guy!
Hope you enjoyed it.
Can you pm me the results of the drag race and lap times of the 3 cars too please.
In actual fact, you could just post it on here as I suspect most of us won't be able to wait another 10 days!

Firstly it wasn't the TG track. I won't give away where it was...
In the drag race the RS got off to good an early start but lost out to the C63 which came first and the M3 in second. But it was very close and the RS was being driven by James May.
On the circuit the RS also came last but again, only just. This time with the stig at the wheel.
The conclusion was that they're all great cars and each has it's own character.
They did give the M3 some stick though as being a 'rep mobile' and the C63 lost out due to it's binary traction control system and automatic gearbox.

Sounds ok but not what we wanted to hear..........

No but it's still pretty impressive for a car that's been out for 2 years (and isn't available to buy new anymore) to be as well respected as it was.
