Apologises in advance if this topic has been hit on before, but I couldnt scan through 33 pages of forums to check - recently a few of the motoring mags have been running tyre tests, some pretty interesting reading, especially the dry & wet lap times - some brands performing in the region of 5 - 6 seconds a lap quciker.

I have a set of Pirelli Rosso's on my car, I love them in the dry but I'm not so confident with them in the wet, interestingly they finished 4th out of five sets of tyres tested. Good Year Eagle Isometric came out on top and I was wondering if anyone has a set fitted to their car and if so, what's your opinion ? I'd also be interested in hearing from any Michelin, Bridgestone & Yokahama fitted cars

I also have P Zeros & TBH am finding them excellent in the dry & wet. Tempted to move to PS2's as i had these on my last few cars & they out performed the OEM rubber greatly, however these Pirelli jobbies have made me think i may stick.

Anyone (sorry to semi hijack the thread) moved from the Pirelli's to the PS2's care to comment on improvements if any??

I have P Zerro's and they are good for my driving style wet or dry.

Another vote for the Pirellis. I have used them on my Audi's for about 8 years, i got given a free set of Michelins form my S8 and i hated them, the car felt like it was driving on ice in the rain compared to the Pirellis. My RS4 now has Pirellis and i am much more confident in them both in the wet and dry, i drove them on a streaming wet autobahn in Bavaria and even on greasy concerete tehy felt planted.

The Lambo Gallardo Crew Swear by their pirellis as well.

I had the F1's on my old car and thought they were excellent. I will be needing to change soon and have been considering the PS2's but not sure if i can justify the difference in cost against performance gains over my P-Zero's. P-Zero's seem to be the cheapest premium brand tyre at present.

Changed from pirellis to PS2 about 4 weeks ago following recommendation on RS246 Not rained much since then and when it has I've often been out of the country so difficult to comment on wet road performance
In the dry I can't say I've noticed much difference although tyre roar does seem to be a little more pronounced

I have had zero's on mine as they came on the car, I am not overly impressed, often feel a little spongy when cornering hard, I would like to try PS2's as I have had them on my last two cars and they felt a little more settled, I too have read something about the F1's coming out really well, I would try them at the right price... if its price ruling the issue I may have to end up with Zero's again...

Fitted 265/30/19's this time, Conti 3's as I had them on B5 and was very impressed, the additional width and drop in profile take all the vagueness out that the standard size conti's had. Stood up resonably well to day of abuse at CC too. Only downside is that the speedo is even further out than it was previously..

I have run with the Conti3s and Pzeros. I have a suspicion that the Conti's may out perform the Pzero's in some areas but I think I prefer the feel of the Pzero's.

Have Conti 3's on mine also, not impresed with them when they are cold, feel like thay are flat even though pressures are right but good when warmed up.

I have heard great things about PS2's but they have to be the most expensive tyre of the choice I would go for. I will be changing when necessary to Goodyear assymetrics as I had F1 GSD3's on my S3 and S4 and they were brilliant in the dry and wet, little tyre noise and long lasting, something I hear not so good things about with PZero's. Great tyre but longevity not so good.

The other tyres I am considering are Toyo T1-R's (similar construction and tread to the old Good year F1's) or Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta, Ultracs came 2nd or 3rd IIRC behind Goodyear in the EVO test.

I ran a set of Vredestein Ultrac's on my STI. I was pleasently surprised by them and they were excellent in terms of wear rates.

I had PZeros as OE fit and they only lasted 9000 miles before all 4 were shot.

I've now done 8000 on a set of PS2s and they still have 7-8mm of tread on all 4. The PS2s are slightly quieter, the grip level is very, very slightly less in the wet but just about identical in the dry, they don't have quite such a nice "feel" as the PZeros ... but for 50-100% extra life, I'll be replacing with PS2s again.

Have others experienced similar wear with the PS2's - if that is the case it makes the extra cost up front less significant!
