Hi Guys, as some will know I picked up my RS4 on Saturday and bar some problems with my dealer I'm loving it.

I have driven to work and back 3 times now and i'm a little worried that my journey is too short for the car to warm up properly. By the time I get here the temp needle is just getting to 90 bu the oil is at late 60's Just thinking I do this trip twice a day 5 or 6 days a week. should I be worried that will be a bad thing over weeks, months, years?

cheers

Jim

So long you go for some lengthy blasts at the weekend or motorway trips on a regular basis I wouldn't be too concerned. It depends on how you drive it during your commute as well though, if you are bouncing it off 7,000 limiter whilst warming it up them you may have some long term issues, however shortshifting and watching the revs should be OK.

Yeah to be honest it's little back roads so just tickling along really nothing major get 25mpg so not a problem there, and of course I do go to meeting and will do a good bit of motorway driving from time to time so should be all good I guess.

cheers

I cant help but think that you might be worrying a bit too much? If Audi cant design a £50k car that can be used on short commuting trips without major problems then God help them as a company...

As other people have said as long as you arent thrashing it on the short trips until its up to temperature then you shouldnt have any problems. Of course a decent long drive in them once in a while is a good thing to do.

I have had my RS4 now for just over 12 months, only done 4k (I get the train to work and the missus walks) in it and most of those are shortish trips with the occasional long journey up North and I havent had any problems... even if I had any problems I'd take the car back and tell Audi to fix it.

I agree - stop worring and just enjoy the car - the car will be fine - if not the warranty is there. I really think it's easy to get too concerned with wear on the engine etc. Even if hammered it will probably last 120000 miles without a problem - and even then who's problem will it be then? - not ours!
