414bhp or ???bhp
414bhp or ???bhp
Don't know how to post a survey so am just asking the questions of B7 RS4 owners.
Have you had your car dyno'd?
If so what dit it produce?
What was the mileage?
Was it standard or tuned?
Where was this dyno done?
Am interested as I have heard so many people complain about the power outputs recently.

Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

RE: 414bhp or ???bhp
My car was dyno'd at DMS with 7K miles and running on Tesco 97, corrected figure????? showed 412 bhp standard. The actual reading was 377 bhp. In the artical in Autocar July 2007. the RS4 suffered the greatest %age drive train loss at -16%. The car they tested showed 345 actual against 414 claimed. Have to say I have driven a few and they differ vastly in how they perform on "seat dyno".
I have found that DMS and WRC dynos were pretty close, on my 996, Dms was reading 587 bhp and at WRC it gave 595 bhp. Only thing that had changed was that the day before I went to WRC, I had fitted new tyres which has virtually desolved on rollers at DMS.

Not dynoed but bought it with 16k miles on the clock. Now 20k miles and it feels better and better.
Have done a few timed events which suggest >400 bhp output. 30-130mph 15.8s. The problem with dyno figures is there is no accurate way of coverting WHP to power at the flywheel. Transmission losses differ between different 4WD setups. The most accurate way is to engine dyno, which is neither easy nor feasible for most. Hence timed runs and seat dyno are the most accurate methods.

So do they correct all their figures??simple1 wrote:My car was dyno'd at DMS with 7K miles and running on Tesco 97, corrected figure????? showed 412 bhp standard. The actual reading was 377 bhp. Mine has had the DMS re-map and been dyno'd at 435 bhp or thereabouts, can't remember the exact figure now!

I really would appreciate anyone who has the exact figures for before tuning dyno results.

Re: RE: 414bhp or ???bhp
All rolling road operators "correct" the figures as manufacturers quote flywheel figures and rolling road measure at wheel figure. As already stated, the only way to get a comparable figure is to remove the engine and dyno that alone. The only experience I have of that is my rally car, engine was dyno'd after Liemenn rebuilt it, it gave 478 bhp, when the car was run in and put on rolling road, it gave 431 bhp at the wheels. Rolling road people agreed that this was acceptable loss for quattro drivetrain.t_urbo wrote: So do they correct all their figures??
Re: RE: Re: RE: 414bhp or ???bhp
Just checked my dyno plots - before tuning was 395.2 bhp, after 424.9 bhp.VARSITY wrote:I really would appreciate anyone who has the exact figures for before tuning dyno results.

Its interesting that the DMS/MRC debate took best part of 25 pages and yet only 3 people here are prepared to post the results?
Seems strange.

First Map is Original Pre Remap, Peak Hp 393.5, Peak Tq 422.8
2nd Map is with JD Remap, Peak Hp 409.1, Peak Tq 437.5
All runs were on 95 RON.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: 414bhp or ???bhp
Was there any particular reason, technical rather than availability, why the runs were done using 95RON?
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: 414bhp or ???bhp
Those were the figures obtained, there was no 'tyre slip', no 'sticky tyres', no 'Corrected Figures' added in, NO Excuses they are what they are.

I filled up in the Netherlands on their shell V-Power which turns out to be 95 Ron.BlingBling wrote:Was there any particular reason, technical rather than availability, why the runs were done using 95RON?

No chill'n required, was just in awe of why everyone jumps in with the knocking of the tuners but when it comes to the proof, it seems convenient that no further info or input is avalable??
And the seat dyno, as good as it is, isn't what I am looking for.
Thanks T_ your 1 in 1,000,000 or at least 30!
