Has anybody worked out or played with the sat nav system so that traffic cameras and/or POI's can be updated on the audi sat nav??

I know I can use Tom tom, for example, on my mobile in the car, but that defeats the object of the sat nav - and from experience they dont always pick the same route or provide the same information.

Would jusdt be handy to update to an SD card, for example, and have the Sat Nav read off them.

Don't think that this can be done

sat nav runs off the dvd nav disc not sd card. in the old e46 bmw you could actually update the disc (by using a your own copied disc) with traffic cameras as poi on the maps so it might be possible...

People are looking at hacking the nav disk, but for the moment the answer is no

Get a "Road Angel" it sure and easy to update.

what about a pogo? not really the topic, but anyone got any comments re devices?

I've got a Pogo Alert & i think it's the dogs bollox. By far the best looking & feature rich of the GPS Speed Camera devices.

It's the replacement to the Origin B2 & therefore uses the same database which i've found of the many i've used to be the best & most frequently updated.

It can't be done on the RNS-E - a really bad omission IMHO.

Like W8MPC I've got a Pogo Alert, and recommend it 100% - miles better than the Cyclops and Road Angel I used before.

How have you got it installed? Can you post a pic? I want to get an idea of how neatly it can be integrated...

I have the Origin B2 which I have found excellent and installs very neatly( top of dash just behind air vent all wires hidden). I guess the Pogo will do likewise as I am happy with the cars Sat Nav I am happy to stick with the B2 for the moment

I'd be interested in changing to a Pogo Alert, but I am wondering how its powered when its hardwired? I currently have a RoadPilot Micro Go, and its <beep> to be honest... yep, its nice and small but it's not exactly accurate and frequently warns me of an impending 20mph speed camera when i am on a motorway.

I bought the Micro Go to replace the Road Angel Plus which was just too big and annoying. I have a cable hardwired in but its on a mini-USB connector and I was hoping that I would be able to power the Pogo Alert off this, or use an adapter... does anyone know?

I've glued the permanent mount onto the dash between the instruments and the vent that blows air onto the drivers door window.

The power cable is pushed down the gap between the dash and the A-pillar trim so it ends up in the fusebox area. I've fitted an in-line cigarette lighter socket onto an ignition switched fuse and plugged the Pogo adapter into there (you can't wire it direct since it needs 5V not 12V).

I'll try and take a photo tomorrow.

My Pogo Alert is hard wired & sited 1" from the drivers side A pillar just in-front (looking forwards) of the small side window vent (all symetrical of course).

The power is just fed into the ignition (i didn't install it), so when the car is started, the Pogo comes to life.

Usually only takes a few seconds to get satellite lock & no need for an external GPS receiver as the signal on the Pogo (according to Origin) is the strongest in-unit available.

Out of interest, which accessories do you need to get with the device to make it work in the fashion you've mentioned?

The hard-wire lead?
