Paging All Milltek Heros!!!! advice needed

Post by sykotoy » Mon Jun 11, 2007 8:34 am

i have milltek cat backs coming this week, but now im thinking maybe i should go all the way and get downpipes too......perhaps the catbacks will give me the sound i wont on their own?.......should i go all the way for the xtra 20bhp too? will the downpipes screw my car? mixture/backpressure/overheat etc...... has anyone installed full milltek system inc down pipes/ 100/200 cell cats?

My brain is going to explodeeeee
thanks guys

I have the non valved system and its great, no cat delete yet but working on it.

The noise is fine but would prefer the chance to be able to "switch" it off if I could, ala the sport button.

Why don't you just gut your our cats out?

Had an 06 GT Mustang without cats and the noise was horrendous to say the least, I wonder if the same would result with the B7.

Let us know what you decide and how it goes.

Sykotoy,
I have only just collected my RS4 last week, and the only mod i would do to the car is the cat back Milltek system, if i think the V8 sound is slightly muted when ive run it in.After fiddling round with engines and exhausts for many years, i would say, stick with the cat back system, and have the frame of mind that its the noise you are after, and not extra power, as you will probably be dissapointed.Leave the cats and downpipes alone, its not worth it in my opinion.I would say get the valved system, wether resonated or non resonated, so at least you can still switch them off, and also have a button to fiddle with. This car is so smooth and classy, it seems a shame to go over the top, and mess it up.Just my opinion, regards, SIMON. :D

With the valved system does it work like the oem exhaust does and via the steering wheel button?
Would this system effect warranty in any way. As above Im not after any poer gains but just love the v8 sound and want more of it. Finally does anyone know what a cat back system costs.

Yes, the valved system does work exactly the same as OEM via the S button.

I can't see how it could affect warrenty - unless the issue was directly related to the exhaust.

You do get improved V8 sound with the exhaust.
Cheers,

Guys - for the noise, do the air filter. Much cheaper and sounds glorious.

I got mine off fleabay. But is a genuine new replacement element from K&N. £35, job done. I can't describe the difference in noise from inside the car....even the wife said the noise was beautiful and my 64 year old dad (bless him) said "this sounds and goes like a race car".

K&N part number # 33-2209

It also gives you opportunity to wedge open the air valve at front of airbox... :D

Rob,
After fitting the filter, i take it that it is the induction noise you can hear more of?, or does this also alter the exhaust note somewhat.Did you fit the filter yourself, and did you notice if the element was oiled at all?,regards, SIMON. :)

Hello Daz,
Have you got the Miltek cat back resonated or non resonated system fitted.I take it yours is the valved system also?.How much louder would you say the exhaust is compared to standard?.Regards, SIMON. :)

I've got the resonated cat back valved system. With the valves closed I'd say it's slightly louder than the OEM with the valves open, with the Miltek valves open it's much louder, but not excessive.

Daz,
Is the exhaust note the same as standard only louder?, or is the exhaust note deeper/different, regards, SIMON. :)

I had a milltek system fitted to my S4, along with 200 cell cats. I have to say I was very disappointed with the system, there was far to much drone from the exhaust, and it was starting to drive me nuts. I would like to hear the cat back system on an RS4 and have a drive around before I would buy another system from them.
