Opening the boot....
Opening the boot....
Two questions:
a) Is there any way to open the boot from inside the car (apart from the button on the remote?
b) With all the doors unlocked I'm still unable to open the boot from the handle, is that normal?
(I have a saloon btw)
Thanks.

RE: Opening the boot....
OK - here's how the boot works on my saloon - I have auto boot-lid opener and key fob set to unlock everything on 'one-touch'.
I can open the boot by: using the handle so long as all doors are unlocked; holding down the boot opener on the key fob (regardless of whether or not rest of car is unlocked); using the handle/lever inside the driver's door pocket; or with the key in teh boot if everything else is locked (but this sets off the alarm!).
Hope this helps.

RE: Opening the boot....
That's very helpful, thanks.
The handle doesn't seem to work on mine, so I'll get the dealer to take a look. Also, I read in the manual about the release in the driver's door but I can't find it. Will have to take another look.

RE: Opening the boot....
Where is the button for opening the boot on the inside located? I can only open mine via the boot or keyfoob.
RE: Opening the boot....
The handle is in the drivers door. Its immediately below teh two alarm control buttons in the door pocket.
RE: Opening the boot....
I don't have this... that's annoying.

RE: Opening the boot....
But do you have the two alarm buttons (tip-disable and ultrasonics off)?
RE: Opening the boot....
Yeah I have the two alarm buttons but no handle for the boot !!
RE: Opening the boot....
Weird! Maybe its something they changed at some time (mine was built April this year) or maybe the handle only comes with auto bootlid opening (but I wouldn't have thought so).

RE: Opening the boot....
I have the release button in the drivers door and i have auto boot also. Therefore i'd assume the 2 are connected.
no autoboot, no button?

no autoboot, no button?

RE: Opening the boot....
I think that will be right. The release in the drivers door is electric not mechanical like many internal boot releases and will require the relay or whatever (supplied with the auto boot) to operate.
RE: Opening the boot....
Aha - makes sense.
Re: RE: Opening the boot....
I only have the alarm buttons and no boot lid open button, I am guessing its only those with auto bootlid open that have this button??hanbury wrote:Weird! I had a Q7 before my RS4 and really miss the auto close boot lid function!
