2.5 litres seems alot just for 'topping up'. Did you check the dipstick when the oil was hot and on level ground?

Purchased an oil filter and sump washer today from Audi.
The filter number has changed, has an E on the end now - 079 198 405E
Total:£29.60
Filter £23.09 + v.a.t.
Washer £1.58 + v.a.t.

Find your local TPS and they noramlly throw the washer in FOC and filter is about £24 inc. VAT.

Hi all, can anyone help with the part number for the rubber grommet that holds the carbon cover over the oil filter as I have one missing.

Cool guide, good job. The only thing I'm wondering is how come you don't run a flushing agent through before draining? don't think it's worth doing?

2007 RS4 B7 Saloon, Metallic Silver with SS+.
LED's all round and Dectane LED tailights. KDS detail and paint. Lepsons black chrome, heavy on the silver wheels. JCWeldFab full system - valved and no pre-cats. Id agree, and it is critical to allow the oil some time to flow down through the block.
Often tricky to see the actual level when its clean oil on the stick.... so two or three dips might be better.
Rule of thumb is 1litre from the low mark to the maximum mark on the stick.
May be an egg sucking lesson there but i thought id mention it....
