They *almost* stole it

Post by DuncanMac » Thu Apr 19, 2007 12:37 pm

Luckily woke up at 3:30 this am to get a drink and just *happened* to look out from the flat and see 3 guys trying to break into my car along with a low loader waiting! Annoyed was not the word!

Called Police, they said someone was on their way. Alarm started going off and they couldnt shut it up so decided to leave empty handed after waking up the whole block of flats! Police turn up 50 mins later. Window seal a little mangled but okay (being replaced).

Just to give a heads up - as this is the third attempted I ahve heard of in a few weeks on high end cars in London.

De badge it would be a start then perhaps two pieces of metal under the door handle connected to the battery for a nice electric shock when they try to open door. Or get a tracker that you can locate and trace real time.

Bastards, utter bastards, shoot them.

you have a robbery in progress and it took them 50 mins to get there - no wonder car theft is bloody easy :x

what wan*_^%!!!

So much for the police only turning up after 50mins. Waste of space they where all out trying to catch people speeding at 330am!

Glad you are ok and the car is of sorts.

Thanks...

It has a tracker so not *too worried* and there wasnt a hope in hell that I was going to go out with 3 hooded men out there - I value my life far too much lol.

I live in a respectable part of London right near the city and it has been fine for the last year, but has attracted a lot of attention as of late for some reason.

At the end of the day it is just a car and is insured, BUT the feeling of somebody touching something that isnt theirs and I have sweated for years to afford really really annoys me!

And for the police - pah! 50 minutes is just rediculous. Although there are some nice bib's out there I will add (long story!).

Is now safely locked away in the secure garage at work and will be staying there until i get the keys for a new underground secure garage located 2 mins walk from my flat tomorrow! Grrr so much agro!

Wasnt on the street mate... Was outside my flat (which is in a gated community) and has a lockable bollard infront of it. Dont ask me how they got in through the gates (obviosuly you can see all the cars from the road) but they did and had wrenched the bollard out of the ground (admitedly it was not one of thosebollards that is sunk 1m into the ground) more of a deterrant.

Now it is in a secure underground garage out of sight!

before criticising you should perhaps understand housing in London which is a little different to Sydney! Many houses are Georgian / Vicotrian terraces etc. My RS4 is parked on the streeet as is every car owned by my neighbours. There are no garages unless you want to rent one for £200+ per month and walk for 10 minutes to get to your car.

There are streets in London where the houses cost £10M+ which have no garaging and it is not unusual for Porsche, Ferraris etc to be parked on the street. A garage in Kensington sold for over £600k recently.

Just adopt the US approach to car security. Smith and Wesson! You won't need to leave your flat, you can deal with the situation from the comfort of your own home!

Or do as I did, spend £14 and get the car badges taken off, all of them inc front grill and side rears and then put a 2.0TDi badge on. You will be suprised how many people think you have just got a special edition SportLine TDi and just leave it and you alone. Unless you want people to think you have a lovely easily stealable RS4?

Just to add insult watch Tonight with Sir Trever McBongBong at 8pm ITV1. Its about car theft in the UK.
Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

hmm... what about the steering wheel and the rev counter badges?

those paracites now know where to find your car and where you live.... you may get an unwelcome follow home and get nabbed then!!
Those sort of scum will find a way to relieve you of your pride and joy, at least you have a tracker, perhaps you should get the 1 that informs the police when its moved without the engine running?

Putting 2.0 tdi badges on now wont fool everyone especially with those hoofing great exhausts!!
