What is the difference between RS6 and RS4 DRC and why do RS6's seem to have real problems with the system?

Theres no difference at all I believe!? Slightly different configuration of dampers etc but the principles are identical...

Why is the RS6 DRC so problematic? Keep seeing threads with several issues with it.

Does this mean the RS4 will go down the same route or is it somehow made more robust for this model?

I think the early RS6's suffered from leaking dampers. I hope they've resolved that issue with the RS4.

Quite a number of new parts have failed when the system is repaired unfortunately... RS4 is a lighter car which should help reduce the forces on the shox

I believe ... and I have no other scientific basis for this other than this came from the master tech at my local dealership ... is that the B7 RS4 configuration has some additional isolation valves that can be closed to ensure the rest of the system doesn't get depressurised when changing out a shock. On the RS6 a lot of the problems stem from the depressurising and then repressurising of the DRC system. However, I don't see how these valves would help if there's a loss of pressure whilst driving ... if the pressure is gone then it's gone.

Again, only what I've been told ... could all be a just an old pile of :dung:

having had an rs6 with DRC problems and a major 3 month repair saga, with bad (understatement) dealer and Audi uk support) I have to say that I am waiting for my Rs4 to develop the same problem. I understand it is basically a very similar system and I think that there is/was? a steel and alloy washer electrolytic reaction problem that could lead to pressure problems in the system that led to the seals on the dampers failing. The subsequent leak from the dampers made it appear as if the damper was at fault so it was replaced. Not only was it not the primary problem, but as there were no isolation valves (these are fitted to the rs4 I think) new DRC valves were needed as the old ones cannot be repressurised and dealers for reasons of cost? tried to reuse the old DRC valves. I will certainly not keep my Rs4 outside 3 year warranty after my previous experience with the RS6. If any one has more information I would like to hear.
