Front door speaker distorting / failing. Amp or Speakers?

Hi all,

New fault, drivers door speaker(s) are starting to sound bad, its intermittent (or maybe tone related), i have to say it sounds like its both the main speaker and tweeter. So i have wondered if its a Amp or cable issue? I unplugged the tweeter and it was still coming from the main speaker, plugged it back in and was sure i could hear the tweeter distorting as well.....

Any ideas / experience on how to confirm diagnosis?

Is it only one side you notice it on?

I did have an issue with my amp years ago which sounds like what you describe, but it was across all speakers. Local audio Shop sorted it.
I'd try swapping speakers from left to right if it's only that side, could be pinched wires in the door somewhere.

Thanks.

Yes just that door. Will pull the amp out to check for any signs of moisture as well. Then door card off and start to investigate....

You can use VCDS to test the Output stages of ALL the Bose speakers, Under 56-Radio , Output Tests - (handy, and saves you the headache of ripping off the door-cards!) :

Nice one, hadn't thought of trying that route!

Will give it a try.
