Front brake lines. Engine drop?

Hello all,

So… went for the MOT this morning and failed. Front near side brake line is leaking. Not at the calliper end but at the other end.

How far up the creek am I?

I’ve roughly priced the hard lines and they’re not expensive but I’ve read I need to drop the engine to put them in. Sounds like a big job.

Any help or insights welcome.

Thanks in advance,
MSJ

On my previous B7 Avant I damaged the Off Side hard line. Awesome Gti were able to make one up from copper so that the engine\gearbox didn't have to come off.

The near side should be easier if I recall correctly, but either way give them a call.

Unfortunately I’m over in Ireland so it wont be an option of bringing the car to them.

I’ve rung around a few places over here and almost nobody is willing to even look at it. So who knows how this’ll pan out.

Thanks for the response though. Who knows. I might have to bring it to them. Haha

You have to lower the engine to replace the drivers pipe if you're using genuine pipes.

Sure i seen it done by lowering subframe and engine together etc
