I have a 2007 RS4 Avant that needs complete new suspension as current DRC shocks are all leaking and pipes corroded.

I know that there are mixed views about moving to coilovers when the DRC system fails which I understand when you look at the higher cost of replacement.

My question is whether keeping DRC would pay when I come to sell the car as it would be in original condition which some buyers look for?

The other problem is that Bilsteins are currently not available until Feb 22 at the earliest.

Any advice/comments welcome.

I’m now in the same position, rear DRC shock went yesterday.

I’ll be stripping it all out and replacing with some B14s.

As for resale value, I think unless you’ve got a really low mileage example it won’t make much difference. Personally I’ll be happy to not have to worry about DRC issues anymore

Personally I'd prefer a car with DRC (I've had mine replaced recently) but you have to be happy with the higher costs - so it might be a smaller pool of buyers but potentially prepared to pay a bit more... who knows!

I've just come out of this and decided to keep my DRC. Replaced all shocks and piping. The works. It was pretty costly and I found it tough to justify but I don't plan on selling the car any time soon so I'll hopefully get my moneys worth so Im glad I did it. Although I still cringe at the cost.

When it was done there was some sealant (not sure which one likely a spray wax) put on the all the pieces that typically corrode so that will most likely prolong the life a good but. So whoever does buy it from me whenever I sell it wont likely have any huge issues creep up on them. From what I've read worst case the shocks have been known to go after 30k miles which could be in 6 years time. If they go after 60k miles thats 10 years away so who cares.

If I was buying again I'd personally want as well a sorted car as I can get and for me that would include the DRC. I'm a purist so there's gotta be more people out there like me.

I recently had both rear shocks replaced so that i could retain the DRC on my 07 saloon.
Not sure if it will really affect resale value, but I've had several cars with (very) expensive coil overs in the past and they never really made driving more enjoyable - bearing in mind I live in London, which is certainly a factor.

What I will say is that a properly working DRC set up is absolutely fantastic IMO.

can't say I regret it yet.. but there is always the chance that the pipes let go, or the front shocks, or both... still i'm committed now!

Any views on B12 v B16 or something else?

Forgive me if this has been done to death?

I'm looking for fast road driving, including a lot of bumpy B roads, no track.

If you think sticking with DRC is best please say, but a ticking time bomb of expense doesn't appeal, especially if the other options are considered to be an upgrade.

I'm not particularly interested in the car riding lower either.

CRS performance shocks with factory springs is the way I went. Zero regrets. DRC all boxed up should the next buyer be a bit (more) of an anorak!

Quick question, did you stick with the stock spring because you had them, or was this a choice for comfort?

I know CRS offer the H+R?

I stuck with original because I personally didn't see the need to change. The rear sits a bit lower than the front.

Interesting, I am in a very similar situation.

Can the Koni shocks from CRS compatible with stock and H&R springs without any modifications?
