Hi Chaps,
As per the link to the classifieds, the car is tentatively up for sale, I am in no rush so haven't advertised the car elsewhere. The draw of the e60 V10 M5 despite all its failings is starting to become too strong a pull! I may change my mind after driving one though...please tell me off if I shouldn't be advertising the link here and I'll delete the post.

I would definitely advise you to take an extended test drive in one.
I have come the other way, 2005 E60 M5 to 2006 B7 RS4 and the cars are honestly miles apart in the way they drive and make you feel.
Dont get me wrong the noise from that V10 is incredible, but that’s where the positives ended for me. They have numerous known massive weak points as i’m sure you have researched. But the main reason I owned mine for less than 3 months was that horrendous SMG gearbox, followed by the overwhelming fear that the rod bearings would let go on full chat.
If you drive one and do like it, then I would budget 2k straight away for a new high pressure Vanos line, and rod bearings if these haven’t been replaced already.
GLTWS, but I think you will regret it

In case this helps, my buddy also had an m5...says ‘never again’. He would recommend the 550i instead.

Plumping for an rs6 instead, I prefer the styling and knowledge that the traction is there, we've had such horrible weather recently and it's really made me question why I'd want to sacrifice all wheel drive performance! RS4 will have to go now

Hi All - my RS4 is for sale at FS performance for £18,950. Really is an awesome car and I'd love to see it go to a forum member/enthusiast. If anyone is interested and has some specific questions. Moved on to an RS6 Plus, will miss the scream of the v8
