Wow that's pretty scary stuff. I reckon Ferodo themselves might be interested to see this, be worth contacting them. You wouldn't have been sold fake Ferodo pads perhaps (have heard this is quite common).

Ok judging by the rust deposit, I can guess the car has been standing for a while? And you most likely overheated them before.
Ds2500 have a tendency to crumble. Similar thing happened to my second set. Basically I was swapping them over for track day use only. After one of the days, took them of, and put them in the box in the garage (until next track day in a month time) when it came to put them back on, they were crumbling like a cookie around the edges and got all puffed up. My theory is, “good”heat cycle and trapped moisture makes them go bad unless they are constantly used. I threw them away and went for ds3000 (still to soft but better)
They need proper bed in period. According to ferodo, you can’t overheat them in the first 100 miles or so. But my theory, trapped moisture corrodes them from inside making the super soft. This is not my pic, buy mine were similar.
By the way, this is my first set of ds2500. They were used daily and that’s after 3rd track day.

Honestly, if you want amazing stoping power, try carbotec xp10 or 12

The car has got rust spots now because it has been sitting for 3 months but before that i did use it.
Its been to the ring an back and a few meets here like i said 2000 mile ish. An considering these are rear pads i didnt think they should take much of a beating?

Because this looks like its going to take some time to resolve or for ferodo to replace, i was looking at a set of ebc yellow stuff just to keep me going for abit.
