Hey guys.

I want to do a cold air feed (B7) as I've already replaced the passenger side aux rad, and would prefer to just get rid of the driver side one before it inevitably fails. I read on the MRC Tuning site that a cold air feed 'requires' a stage 2 remap... Is that correct?! Because I have a very good garage near me that can do the feed. A remap would put another 500 quid on the job.

I don't think the cold air feed needs a remap but they normally remove the secondary air injection at the same time which will require a remap. I don't think the secondary air injection will block your cold air feed but might make it harder to install or mean you can only use a smaller tube.

No its don’t need. Only if you remove the secondary. I want to do myself soon and I asked many owners and they said the same that don’t need!

Managed to route around SAI with 89mm which is a nice fit on air box cone.

89mm is fine if you have the standard air box. I had the Revolution carbon intake and it made a huge difference when I changed the 89mm to a 102mm.

I was going to make comment on your posts with your investigation on keeping air temps down

The standard air box only has an opening of around 89mm so making the cold feet any larger has no advantage. The Revolution or any other open intake suffers more from heat soak from the engine bay and is helped by a bigger cold air feed. I logged intake temps before and after going from 89 to 102mm and there was a clear drop in temps when moving.

Interesting Mike thanks ! Just the trumpet to bigger to 102mm ? ?

Im tempted to buy a lower airbox off a lesser model and bond in a 100mm plastic pipe and use a 102mm hose, anyone done this before?

I did the CAF and dont have a mapped car. It is tight with SAI inplace but certainly not impossible. You do have to remove the aux rad to do it. There is a great DIY guide i used on the forum.
Also make sure you get a decent Cold air tube that has the metal strengthener wire enclosed as they will rust very quickly. The crap expensive REVOTEC ones are not sealed.

Is any big difference with cold air feed? Exhaust and engine noise?
