Getting another key?

Post by sweatysRS » Sun Mar 04, 2018 5:59 pm

So only have one key and would like to have a spare. Am I right in saying its a main dealer job?

I’d like to know this too, remember seeing something before about Mobile locksmiths doing them for around £125 all in and Audi charging £175

£175 sounds about right for the fob and blade, then you need it coded.I got mine from Audi, but had it coded by a mobile locksmith as it was cheaper than Audi and much less hassle.👍

I paid about £180 supplied and coded at an Audi main dealer if I remember correctly.
Spoke to an auto locksmith who was hesitant to do it as if done incorrectly can cause problems.
Went safe with the main dealer, no probs.

Yes it is a main dealer job although I have heard some locksmiths can clone the key chip this prevents you later coding a key out if it is lost.

Also bear in mind they will charge an hours labour so if you want 2 spare keys now is the time to do it - you can also have a non-remote key coded if you ask and need an additional spare.

Theres a guy in Northern Engand somewhere, has a VW transporter van all kitted out, can cut and code most VAG keys, so can sell you a Bently key that will fit an A1. Not sure of the details, but I'll text my mates who invted him up to Aberdeen to do basically a group buy for a load of locals
