Teetering on BUY- RS4 B7

Afternoon all,

I've been considering for a while quashing the craving for an RS4 B7 and I'm seriously tempted, to the point I've placed a refundable deposit, by the car at T H Boler:

http://www.thboler.com/used-cars/818854 ... 4-quattro/

It is immaculate with 24k miles but priced at £29,999, its at the very top of my budget and the price range of the b7's. I'd love to know what the fraternity make of this example and anything I should request be done before shaking?

Thanks in advance
Neil

No RNSE Sat Nav? Missing the tech pack.

An issue to consider big issue with buying a car like this is going to be insurance. If it gets stolen, or you have an accident where it gets written off, the insurers first offer will be book at 20k not 30k, hence you may wish to look into some kind of agreed value if you go ahead with the purchase.

I love the way they don't take a photo of the drivers seat bolster. Other than that it looks a great example.
RNSE, I don't know if it can be retro fitted but certainly their are plenty of after market ones that many members have fitted.

I'd not even considered that tbh, perhaps another nail in the :audibash: RS4 coffin for me. I'll have a scout about.
Cheers Ian.

I know, it is ridiculous especially when this one looks virtually as new, you'd think they would highlight it.
Interesting about the satnav being upgradeable as there are a few units on ebay but I doubt very much it's just plug'n'play? What is the oe system like? Worth having or go for an aftermarket version?

are you planning to keep it locked up as an investment?
If not, dont waste 10k by buying that one

There will be plenty around 20k which are just as mechanically sound I betcha.

I wouldn't buy that example, not a desirable colour and iffy spec.

For that kind of money I'd get a B8 RS4 instead, it's a better car and I've owned two B7's previously.

I know the B7 Police will be after me, but I agree with Sam, and have also owned both.

For me, B7 is Michelle Pfeiffer (lovely, if you’re 60), B8 is Sienna Miller (Exactly what you want in your 40s) and B9, pick some stunning young bird that just ain’t worth the money right now!

That's a lovely car but still depreciating and I can't afford that and the high running costs; with the B7 hopefully not losing any more money and with minimal mileage (5k miles a year) on a low mileage I was thinking it shouldn't be too £££. :bash:

I do like the B8's though.... this isn't going how I thought it would :)

B8 & B7 running costs are near enough the same, just a couple of extra oil changes for S-Tronic drive line every 20k miles.

If you drove that silver B7 out of the showroom you'd struggle to sell at £23-25k, so you will have a depreciating car anyway. If the B7 is what you want and don't get me wrong, they're a great car. Try find a loved one with paperwork and good history in the £20-£25k area with sub 75k miles. You'd then stand a better chance of not loosing money.

Pretty sure the owner tried to sell the silver car on here and no-one was interested. Link - viewtopic.php?f=63&t=121504&p=810312&hi ... es#p810312

Personally, if I was after a B7 then this one seems to be ticking a good few boxes and worth a look. Link - https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds ... sh/8386760

That is top money for a poverty spec ish b7. You’ll lose money on it the second you leave. I bought my b7 from th boler about 10 months ago and even though it was advertised as immaculate etc Iv ended up putting almost 10k into it. And they had to give me some money back!

This was mine and I ended up paying 25 or 26 for it I can’t remember

There are plenty of low mileage examples around for a lot less money which can be negotiated with.

It's a lot of money for a silver car. Looks great condition as you'd expect but I always find these low mileage cars missing out on oil changes.

Don't TH Boler do sale or return? My guess is they are just selling on behalf of the owner hence a high price.
If it was me I'd pay 10k less for a higher mileage car (something like 50k miles) that has had all the money spent on it already and depreciated already. And not silver unless you really like. Or make him a much lower offer and wave the cash under his nose.

They do indeed do sale or return mike, the one I bought was also the same.

They usually have a 15% margin.

You are correct with oil changes, I did look at loads and although low mileage had huge gaps in history. Oil degrades over time so there should be no excuse even if the car isn’t driven. One example had a gap for over 4 years!!!

Has your b7 sold?
