Airbox flap

Hi could someone shed some light on the airbox flap not working please.
Tomorrow I’m going to check and see if it’s seized. If so can the flap be removed without issue or does this cause an issue with the computer system.

I'm fairly certain it is not monitored so shouldn't cause any alarms. Having it open all the time will mean you are letting in hot air at lower revs when a high volume of air is not required. The flap should open at higher revs when the engine needs more air and in theory the car should be moving faster which will negate some of the hot air issues. Fitting a cold air feed straight into the flap inlet will restrict the amount of hot air getting in at lower revs. But to do this effectively you need to remove the drivers side auxiliary radiator (or drill a big hole in the wing like that car had in ebay).

I had no issues removing mine when I fitnthe cold air feed. There's a thread at the top of this forum in the diy caf. Easy pezzy.

Mine has been out for months now... Been running fine! Initially removed it to fix it since flap was stuck and I was having hesitation issues.
I'll get it back in at some point, but just being lazy.

Well I tried to clean up and re-grease the flap as it was a little stiff but didn’t notice much difference. I may remove it and see if there is once removed.
RS4eddie you said you removed it. I take it you can remove without damaging it and fit back again does the whole airbox have to come out for that.

when i say clean up just clean the bits of dust that was in the airbox and sprays the flap with wd40

My tech removed it -- think the whole airbox was removed to get to that housing with flap.
Once out make sure you plug the vacuum line.
It's much easier to clean up/sand when removed. Good luck!!

Might be a stupid question, bit do I have to remove whole airfilter box to get to this flap ?
