Understanding traction control

After a lot of work my Avant B7 is now carbon cleaned, and I’ve fixed everything as far as I can tell.
I’m at the point where I’m a little fed up with it cutting the power with a hard pull away or an aggressive gear change.
I’ve read that there is 2 ways to play with the traction control.
I’ve tried it,
Short press flashing and long press constant.
I’ve had a play with it on constant and found that after one power slide the light is flashing again.
Anyone know why?
Also is it almost idiot proof to drive it with it flashing.
I’ve read that this is partially off.
I don’t understand the rules of these 2 modes and it is not written in the manual very well.

Possibly not much help - when I had my B7 I read that the traction is never fully 'off' in either of those, but it was possible to disable it with a remap.
Didn't take it any further as was happy with the way it worked as standard.

How are you getting the TC cutting in on gear changes? are you sure theres not a fault with your TC? sounds strange to me.

Wow, that's one hell of a gear change, I'm more interested in what clutch you're running that can withstand such abuse.

What tyres are you running?

Eagle F1 assy 3 tires.
It has a fairly new clutch, it just cuts power on changes or pull away unless I press and have the light flashing.
This isn’t really answering the question and it a bit off topic though.

I'm wondering what tyres your running as if they were budget then maybe it might of caused a bit of traction issue. Can't see how your spinning the wheels on gear changes, my TC won't cut in on gear changes even in the wet, its dyno'd at 430bhp so i can't see your running much more power then me.

There is a torque limiter which cuts power in the first 3 gears, if you're a bit keen on gearchanges. An MRC remap can remove this.

It does it under hard acceleration in damp conditions as the front has less weight on it. First thing I do is hold the esp button down for 5 seconds after I start the car, the car drives more smoothly without it and it saves on brake wear as well.
I did mange to get the car sideways exiting a t-junction the other day (by mistake) but never noticed the esp going back into the intermediate flashing setting.

Ive got an MRC map with the restrictions in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd removed, maybe thats why i can't get my TC to cut in.

That should make it easier to trigger the traction control as full throttle will be available in the lower gears.

I wondered if the TC is adjusted in the map? even booting mine in the wet i don't get any interference from the TC

I very rarely ever saw the traction light come on even in the wet unless tyres were getting old.
I don't think the 1st-3rd gear torque limiter will flash the traction light though.
After the powerslide does the light flash while sliding or do you mean it starts flashing and stays flashing? I thought it would flash if it had to intervene whilst regaining traction but then go out again and didn't think it should keep flashing but never really tried it.

I have had a play about with mine in the snow with it in the fully off position and I never noticed it cutting back in.
With the 40/60 rear bias and the extra weight of the bread bus at the back it is good fun in the white stuff.
There is also a video on
YouTube of a guy with some good skills drifting a yellow RS4 through a sequence of corners through a snowy forest.
Pretty sure he would not have been able to do that without disabling the stabilty control.
Strange how some cars can and cannot fully disable it, I wonder if it is a regional thing due to local legislation?
