Its that time again to get a set of front discs. I know this has been covered again and again but I can't find any long term opinions/experience of the tarox discs.

Can anyone let me know what they think of them and am I right in thinking the rotors fit to the existing oem bells?

I used my Tarox discs somewhat abnormally, with Carbotech XP10 pads and took the car onto the Nurburgring for a dozen laps. They held up OK but the metal started to develop crazing and micro cracks quicker than I would have wanted.

I used them for long distance highway driving for the rest, and then last winter they rusted over badly and became warped.

Their design in terms of cooling is better than OEM discs, but they are thinner and in my subjective impression they certainly aren't superior metallurgically. They do fit the OEM bells.

They will only be for road use so I would certainly hope they wouldn't develop micro cracks.

The fact that they rusted over is a concern. Was the car sitting for long periods unused?

When I changed my discs - admittedly over 10 years old & 50k miles they were a fight to get off and it also looked like they would have been very tricky to separate the bells from them so depending how old your existing discs are I would be wary/ready for a fight to get the bells off for re-use. I think these setups work well for track cars which are regularly worked on but if they are your original discs it may not be so easy.
