Deer = Dear :(

Hi all, this is my first post, so I genuinely mean "Hi all"

Picked up my B7 last Friday, 41k miles, Misano Red, Milltek non-res, well loved car. Drove it for 6 hours and LOVED IT, then while headed home over the moors where I live, a Deer jumped out at dusk, right into the headlight/wing. Was driving reasonably on a straight stretch of national speed limit road, had time to grab the brakes but still clipped it.

Anyway, the damage is done and it made me feel sick, not sure of the ££££ yet, but a new wing, headlight and washer unit was needed, bonnet needed some dents removing and obviously needs painting.

The question is this, has anyone else had this happen? - this is a first for me in 19 years of motoring. My wife suggested "maybe the poor thing was scared by how loud the car is, panicked and jumped from the moorland into the road?!" - is this plausible, what do we think? I don't want to be paranoid when driving on those roads in the future, otherwise, where else can one have fun in such an awesome car (off the track)??

hit a deer at high speed in an xr3I mk3 decades ago,fair old mess-all that was left of the deer was backbone,gristle and head,it disintigrated on impact
car was front panel,wing,bonnet,rad,lights bumper,leg bent on one side-hard old hit

Woah there!! And I was thinking I was lucky not to have airbag deployment. I went back three times and there was no sign of it, not on the road or at the side

Think you've got off fairly lightly there. Hit a fox a couple of years back and it cracked my bumper and smashed the honeycomb to smithereens. Think Audi wanted something ridiculous like £1500.00 so had it plastic welded in the end at a tenth of the cost.
