Moving on....

After 2.5 years of ownership I'm moving on from the RS4. Its been an awesome experience and I still love the car, but I have another itch to scratch and cannot justify (or have room to park) a 4th car.

Ironically I have spent a lot on the 4 over just the last 4 months (B14's, interior re-firb and paint correction) so the new owner (whoever that will be) will be getting a well looked after car. Totaled up receipts yesterday and in the time I have had it (excluding general maintenance costs) I have put £20K into it.

Car was part-exd against my new one, I did 'okay' on the deal but in reality I didn't have much choice as they are a hard car to shift locally in Jersey. The car is actually going to be shipped over to the UK for sale so it may well appear back on here with a new owner at some point.

In the meantime I have really appreciated the advice/information and help from this forum and its members (although responsible for about £15K of the £20 spent due to seeing neat stuff people had done and wanting that too).

..........oh and the million dollar question "what did you replace it with?" is.........................a BMW i8.........I know, I don't quite get it either being a V8 addict, but its a different thing entirely and maybe that's the point. I just fell in love with the way it time warps you down the road effortlessly, oh and it looks bonkers. Before anyone else asks about an R8 - I need a 2+2 and just can't do Porsche (I get them and all that just not for me).

Congrats mate.

Sounds like you had a good B7. Got any pictures?

What mileage was it on and how much did you let them steal it for? It's all relative though, so the price they gave in part exchange doesn't really matter, if they give you discount too. It's just the balance you have to pay that matters.

I would have thought it's not too much of a headache to buy a car from Jersey and bring it back to the UK though.

Hope you enjoy the i8.

hi mate - pictures below;

just hit 31K - managed to get them to £18k which i felt was very fair as a trade-in plus the deal on the i8 was very very good. I could have obviously got more on a private sale, but frankly didn't want the hassle and car needed to go to make room for the new one.

looking forward to getting in the i8 - nice example with just 4500 miles on it, like new, but quite a lot cheaper!

I remember those pictures. It looks great!! I'd expect it to be resold for another 10k. It's a shame it's gone to a dealer, but understand the need for a hassle free PX.

One quick question. Do you know what offset the wheels are, or did you run spacers? It looks like you nailed the stance!

hmm cant remember the exact offset, but they were running with 5mm spacers up-front but nothing on the rears. I did have 8mm all round on the OEM alloys before these but the rears were way too far out. hope that helps! side on photo too;

re the price on the part-ex - yeah, not sure about another £10K lol, maybe another 5, only bit missing was the bucket seats, i had comfort ones so that would affect the price (although far easier to live with as a DD), also the avants seem to hold up a bit better than saloons - in any event i feel I got a good deal in the round.

Good point on the seats, hadn't realised they were comforts.

It's the mileage that would make it command so much premium, but I guess we'll see what it gets listed for in due course.

Like you say, as long as you are happy with the deal, that's the important thing.
