Hi guys thinking of fitting B14s to my B7 Rs4, what's the ride/handling like compared to the stock drc system? Thanks for any advice.

Are we at the point now where everyone's DRC is failing?

Mine is fine at the moment. How do you know when its failed? If and when and I hope it doesnt ill be going KW v3s and arbs.

Just fitted B14's , the ride is slightly harder but over all I prefer it. I had a oily front OS shock so removed the whole system

Its to unreliable to replace and expensive

just fitted b14 also-but it was to replace cheap jap coilovers as it was too low-well not so much low but bottomed out a little too easily
seems fine on the bilsteins though,i just set mine at the max height in the instructions
doesnt seem to roll too badly tbh,but mine is on 275/30 which may mask the rolly polly feel a little-bit of roll wont bother me anyway as i dont do track days etc

While your fitting the front shocks fit powerflex front ARB bushes

You want the 29mm ones for the RS4 , makes it so much better turn in etc . Only take 20 mins to fit too . £35 well spent

will give those a try-have to revisit the front and remove the 4 pinch bolts,soaked them with various penetrating fluids,will let it act and see what happens
need to get a set of replacement bolts too

Grrr.... My DRC decided to pack up yesterday. Front left leaked it's fluid and knocking bad. Rear right knocking as to be expected.
Going to go the B14 route myself and get all the suspension arms done at the same time..
Apart from the DRC, can anything else be damaged if the car is used for one or two short journeys in the meantime?

I just put on B14s with new arms too. It does feel firmer but I definitely realise just how good the DRC was now I don't have it. I think the DRC is so integral to making the RS4 what it is - I had to go the aftermarket route as my DRC was on its last legs (MY 06, 55k miles) but the B14s aren't the same. If I had to explain it, the roads where I am aren't the best and the car feels like it skips when pushed - exactly like the wheels aren't being forced into the road which, of course, is what the DRC was there for. I had no choice but to fit the B14s (it was done by a race specialist) but I would do everything possible to keep the DRC if you can afford to do so (and keep replacing it every 8 years!).

perfect drc probably cant be beaten
however bilstein etc are certainly good enough and cost effective,they are ten years old plus now,aging lines,flexis valves as well as the leak prone shocks...
for me its the engine,transmission,wide arches etc that make the car tbh
i have an avant now,my saloon i owned last year was on good drc and yes,probably felt a bit more planted on rough backroads
the avant i have now is hard to compare as its on 275/30 tyres which themselves make the car firm up a bit-although once worn i will refit correct size

I've had B14's fitted on my '07 saloon. Rear offside DRC sprang a leak, then gave in altogether. Knocking, banging along with front nearside. Bilsteins are by no means a harsh ride and seem fine to me. Each driver will have their own preference I guess.

I have B14's on mine, and I agree with the skipping thing that was mentioned earlier. There is a motorway slip that I use near me, fairly crappy surface with one particular bit on it's bend that the car likes to jump on..not dangerous but I am always aware it is coming up. Other than that though, it is still well capable of cornering at speeds that would send most cars into a field.

Vogtland are a good option. Same shock as KW at a fraction of the price. Also much more easier to adjust compared to the bilstein.

Will be even better with updated ARB's.

DRC still hanging in there at 55k, although just failed it's MOT with a broken n/s rear spring...bugger!!
So £243 for set of rear springs + top/bottom seats from audi
axle stands, spring compressor at the ready I'll tackle it when I come back from holiday....
